Default Gas tank removal

My fuel sender is sticking - shows empty for a time after a fill, with warning light on. Is is a straightforward job to remove the tank from a convertible, to install a new sensor, or is it better to get my independent jaguar engineers to do it? (Any instructions on the forum?)

The tank removal is pretty standard mechanical endeavor. Below is a link to Jagrepair.com that has complete instructions for the tank removal. You can see the steps and decide for your self if you want to do the removal.

I might be wrong but when I did my pump, it would seem that the sender fits through a port on the trunk side of the tank, so tank removal isn't required?

From VIN (A11051) the sender is completely inside the tank!!!!

The sender is attached to a circular plate in the side of the tank. From looking at it, removal is the same as the fuel pump access plate, you just tap it round with a punch .look Where the electrical connection is, that looks to be where the sender is extracted

I thought there was a difference between coupe and convertible - mine's convertible. I have a feeling that this might be one of those jobs that could become really frustrating.

Just a thought - I imagine that you're still running on the temporary IC?

Could be the sensor & might not be related, but I'd hold fire until the correct one is in place before diving into a non-trivial fuel tank fix.

Good point, and I'll do as you suggest. It feels like a sticking float, though, as it only happens when I fill the tank from near empty, at which point it reads zero and the low fuel light comes on, then perhaps up to a couple of hours later it returns to normal. I'll report back later.
