Default Ghost of XK8 Past!

Love to drive my '99 Saphire XK8 drop top...

The trunk ?? Most times when its time for the baby to go back in the garage, I find the trunk ( or is it the boot) unlatched.

Oh no, malfunction?? Na, gotta be a gremlin or prehaps a Gost.

I finally figured it out. You see, I'm 6'2". That is the best part. I love to peel into the Jag.
Whilist I try my best to avoid the wiper arm with my right knee cap, I hit the trunk release with my left...

The Good News. The Trunk Gost is gone, however my wipers keep going on every x I turn the ignition on??? hummm...

I'm 5'4" and still manage to open the trunk (boot) from time to time.

I feel your pain. At 6 ft. I've managed to open the boot and the fuel door at the same time with just the touch of a knee.

I'm 5'10" and it happens to me as well. You don't so much get into an XK8/R as you slip it on. Such is the price for beauty.

At 6-foot-7, there's just no way for me to get comfortable in my wife's XK8. No leg room, no head room unless the top is down, nowhere for me to put my size 15 feet, and my knees hit the steering wheel no matter what adjustments I make. So I rarely drive it....

I'm 187 cm, which in feet and inches is... fairly tall - with foot size to match. Fortunately, I'm (still) somewhat hypermobile and I've been able to put on and take off the cat without causing undue operation or dislocating anything, neither on the car nor on myself.

I did have to get used to operating the pedals with the outer edge of my foot though, rather than the ball of the foot. Soon as I got that straight, I was a happy driver

I don't get the trunk thing, but I do usually have my wipers come on for no apparent reason. The annoying part about that is that then the little squirters for the headlights squirt water up on the hood that I have to wipe away before it leaves water spots.

Common complaint. Many of us remove the fuse to disable this auto-function.

Most likely the wiper control stalk is in the 'rain-sensor' position.
See if it can be moved one position lower.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Oh, for the record, I'm 6'8" and I squeeze in every day Most of my height is in my legs, and I'm pretty slim, so it works for me.

Granted this is about a 6 year old photo, but:

You make the car look even lower than usual

I'm 6-3 and not so thin so it's a bit of a squeeze but a small price to pay imho.

It was an old post from Rev Sam (who is about my size) that convinced me to look again at these cars, which I had previously written off for this very reason. But reason is cast readily to the wind in the face of such beauty.

BTW, love the little puppie in the front seat. REB

Hi Marsden, my rain sense wiper feature is behind my glasses. The wipers still come on at times... REB

Hey Keith, nice XK8. Legs, me too. I think longer legs are easier to manage than torso. Legs can fold a bit. As I said. Still love to peel into the Jag.
This love came from my first Jag love, a '71 XKE conv. Dark Burgandy rag top, 4.2 engine 4 speed stick and genuine wire wheels. A missed opportunity I regret till this day. It did prompt me however to go after the next generation similar style XK8. Rich
