Default Head Bolts are they reusable

Just got done with my head gasket repair. Started to add coolant and noticed it leaking out of the head gasket in the corner area on the passenger side head. Hope this isn’t another torque setting done wrong. But are the head bolts re-usable? No matter I’m guess replacing them is a must at this point on a 1999 xk8 convertible

Suggest you add your car year and model type to better ID your needs.

jmitch,
you do need to add your car details to your sig (1999 xk8 convertible) to help us to help you. There are many detail differences between years and 8/R.
Since you have a post-op leak, did you check the head and block for warping?

The head bolt part # is AJ89986. Jaguar says they can be reused, but I wouldn't. The re-torqueing is a mix of Nm and degrees.

I've attached a JTIS procedure snip: - it's from 2000, but will be substantially correct, and contains the torque figures and tightening sequence.

i agree with above. Supposedly possible to reuse the stretch bolts once, but I wouldn't. I used the FEL-PRO ES 72262 on my 99 XJR. You will need to verify fitment for your model.

If you cannot find bolts listing under Jaguar, try 2000 Lincoln LS 3.9 liter engine.(SAME BOLTS)

I looked on the shelf in the shop and I have a set of FEL-PRO ES 72262.(2 boxes)
Rock Auto has them on WHOLESALE CLOSEOUT for a little more than I paid a few years ago so I bought another set (2 boxes) for about $40 a box.

I hope the aftermarket keeps these parts around because Jaguar is NOT supporting these old cars.

Everytime I call the JLR dealer in Fort Worth I get the 'STOCK-NO-STOCK-NO-BACK-ORDER-NLA' response from the parts dept. for things I need to order.

STOCK UP on things you might need 'cause it will NOT be getting better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can’t see on RockAuto.com where those bolts are correct for a 2002 XKR (w/ 4.0 engine) .

Asking for your verification before ordering….

Since Covid I think Jaguar has been r3eally terrible with supporting our cars with parts. No idea what it's like for other car makers but it's clear they don't give a damn. Trying to find catalytic converters for my XKR at the moment, there are lots for the 4.0 cars but not a single option for the 4.2 cars. Out of stock from Jaguar which is normal at this point. The other parts I could do with brand new ones that are good are the oil cooler hoses.

I have a 2000MY 4.0 XKR with Nameless Cataverters and they work fine.
They were installed years ago when one of the originals 'melted-down' internally.

Most manufacturers, USA anyway, only have parts for cars 10 years old or less. Not just a Jaguar issue.

For limited production cars that’s just the reality that one accepts before jumping in with a purchase. Cars made in the millions like the first generation Mustang are easy to find aftermarket parts for. But most vintage cars are just too limited in numbers for anyone to care.

I'm in the UK, so I have no idea if 200 cel cats will even pass emmisions. I sort of doubt it because in the MOT the margin is very slim. Also anything cheaper, Paramount in the uK do similar cats for £1600 or so but that's almost the cost of the car.
