Default how to remove headrest?

I need to do the headrest fix but I first need to learn how to physically pull the headrest out of the seat. Someone did it before and put the plastic surround piece in upside down!?

So how do you yank the headrest out?

see update below

Default Headrest Repair

As dennisw states - don't pull on the headrest
The headrest is motor driven by a cable extending from the headrest to a motor to the lower back support of the seat.
At the top of this section go to the "How to Videos". Rev Sam has a two part video detailing the repair to the headrest.

okay, but how do you remove the headrests? There must be a way becasue the factory had to assemble it.

Do I release the cable and then pull the headrest up?

The headrest fix does not require removal of the headrest itself. All repair is done inside the seatback. See Sam's two-part video on this in the stickies for process.

we are not communicating.

I know about the head rest fix.

My problem is I need to replace the plastic piece between the headrest and the seat.

I am confident you can totally remove the headrest. Once the cable is removed from the motor, there is also a plastic 'T' part that both pedestals of the headrest connect to, and it is connected to the said cable at the center. You will see it once you dismantle and pull up the seat cover almost all of the way up.

Just pull up and they release from the actuating mechanism. It is a ball and socket fit.
