Jaguar Forum 2020 Calendar - suggestions for selection of pictures
Ladies and Gents,
I'm proposing to do a Jaguar X100 2020 wall calendar, probably flip style A3 portrait, with a new pic per month. I'll print a multiple set and send them to the hard working Forum members.…..especially the moderators. I'll pay 100% for it (including postage). This is my thanks for everyone's hard work during 2020 on behalf of me and all the people who have been "saved" by the Forum.
I would like suggestions on what pictures to include and I would suggest some questions and/ or "sort of rules" as below.
1. Pictures must have been featured in the Jaguar Forum X100 forum in 2019
2. Importance of Backdrops - maybe a theme of international locations etc
3. Do we want references (ie captions, thread titles, names, dates etc)
4. Should we have some pics reg. technical engine/exhaust/transmission pictures with a theme of someone's big 2019 project in that month
From the WOW pictures stickies' thread
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...106114/page97/
my initial thoughts are :
1. BCP's 2005 XKR
2. eric jansen's at Taiwan in front of Buddha Statue
3. deuce2000's Italian thoroughbred (part of GQ magazine shot)
4. Jarkko's car in Finland
5. DNShade's 99 XK8 in front of a wild west saloon at the his Cal Club reunion
6. Droptopcat's balcony view of his blue recaro seats and tonneau cover
7. MickeyR's landscape view at the Tail of the Dragon
8. Ophitozaemia's lovely B&W shot in woodlands, Bay Area, CA
9. Pat B's XKR outside colonial house, VA
10. Jeff390's XKR from Nelson, New Zealand (in a graveyard)
11. XK8Mojo's lovely alpine mountain snow backdrop …. or
12. Rosettaquarrier's XK8 in winter, Utah
13. ccfulton's car with mountain backdrop, Phoenix, AZ
14 Domdelicato's in Rome's Forum or in front of the Circus Maximus
15. Julian Black's 2004 XK8 up in the LA hills
16. unextrapolating's car in Asan, Guam
Do I need permission to use the pictures? i'm not going to be sued am I?
Anyway, let me know your thoughts and I'll get onto the first draft.

The problem here is that we would not want a calendar that is bland, samey, as it might come across as a motoring monotone, as it were. So it is essential to include something to counterbalance the otherwise sadly predictable photographs of gleaming X100s, and offer a frisson of tension. I am thinking of a 1970’s Lada for its elegance as the March illustration, and perhaps an early Skoda as a model of reliability for July. Jaguar would have produced a decent car if only they had paid heed to such classics of perfection.
By the way, there are 12 months in the year, DavidYau........! Or have I missed a calendar change, somewhere?

Agree with Diddion, that maybe I need to change tack and add some “ tres frission”
So.... Will replace some Month’s main pics with something that is not a gleaming X100 in a lovely setting.
i’m thinking of some car crash pics or maybe the recent ruined “cheater” car. Maybe pics from the XK8 launch - Girls on Jags thread here I come.
Maybe on right hand side of the calendar dates, I’ll add something from that 2019 month’s threads. Maybe technical, a joke, or a print out of a thread’s funny bits.

David how about this for an idea. Forum members can each put up 3 photos to be included in your calendar. Perhaps Email you the photos in the required size? Then post all the photos up in one topic allowing any member to select 12 photos and email you with their selection. If you just say three they will just vote for their own and you will get no where. Email selection because people can get upset if their best internet mate does not vote for them.
With the photo submission they should say whos car it is eg. Davidyau and location. E.g The Rockys, TX USA etc.
When the top 12 have been selected you have your calendar. Also the name of the owner and brief location.
Idea?

Great idea. I'd do it the way you want. I'd love one that was just sweet pics of xk8/xkrs.
Let others create their versions.
I think you can create one super cheap via a ton of websites.

I want Frank to KNOW I'm not voting for a photo his car - every time he posts one it's ALWAYS cleaner than mine.

Ladies and Gents,
My first draft is ready and part 1 is attached below. I cannot waiting for an email poll amongst the Forum members, to decide what pics are good, as my plan is to professionally print them, and post them to anyone who wants a copy, in the 1st week of December (postage in Bahrain is very slow!). You'll have to live with my decisions.
GGG- frankc's car made July!
I tried to use the space right of the month table for a X100 technical subject I had in 2019 (secondary tensioners, seat diaphragm, trunk lights etc), maybe a joke, and Sept is for funracer's safety moment. Content varies from month to month.
Any comments and suggestions to improve the calendar, will be gratefully received. If anyone has any objections to the content, please let me know.

Nice work David. A few thoughts to consider...
Some might not want their plate details included. Probably should blur those out.
Maybe not use the "cheater" pic. That guy is pissed enough that he doesn't need us to twist the knife by including it in a calendar.
Perhaps not use the same car color more than once. Aren't there enough colors to cover the 12 months? Variety would be better.
The stuff on the right edge is not appealing. Would rather see that space used by larger calendar/numbers so I can read at greater distance.

I have been looking at the calendars. Really like them!
