Loose connections??
Hi guys
Just moved to Saint Marys, GA from Connecticut and am looking for a good Jaguar mechanic in the area. I found the Jaguar dealer in Jacksonville but would like another source. I would also like to join the Jaguar club here, so if any body has information on that let me know.
My 03 XKR has developed some minor problems lately and I was wondering if any one has experienced the same ones. While driving at night my head light switch in auto mode with the lights on, I went over some rough pavement and the head lights went off. I turned the light switch to normal lights on and they came back on OK.
The other day I was driving on a beautiful sunny day, and went over some rough road conditions over some rail road tracks and my wiper blades came on. I keep the wiper switch in auto mode. I turned off the wiper and they stopped. I then went back to the auto mode and everything appeared OK.
It seems this problem only occurs when I go over rough bumpy road. I was thinking these problems are being caused by a loose cable either from my steering stalk area or by a loose connection from my rain sensor and light sensor control on the windshield. Does any body have any ideas where to look?

Hi I had similar problem with lights flickering on auto. Got advice from the forum to check the connections at steering column under the knee trim plate. I think it's the yellow one on left side for lights not sure which one to check for wipers. Have been running on manual for lights and wipers-battery drains when I leave the car sit for too long (2 weeks when I go to work)
Good luck

On an '03 the battery terminal crimps can be unreliable. There can be tightened up in a vise.
Also make sure the fuses and relays in the all four fuse boxes are fully seated.
There is a power feed lug on a bolt to each fusebox...make sure it is clean and tight.
Make sure the cables to the megafuses behind the spare are bolted on tightly.
Warning...do not put a metal tool on the power connections without the battery disconnected first.

Jacksonville mechanic
To WCNESTA:
SACHS AUTOMOTIVE - HOME
The only place to go. Jaguar-trained mechanic -- works on Jaguars only. He's a fugitive from Jacksonville Jaguar and been in business for ten years. Very knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I've been using Michael Sachs for years for things I couldn't do myself.

There must be a connector in the windshield area. I would assume it is in the covered dome light area? I want to check the cable connection there as both the lights and rain sensors should go through the same cable. I think one of our members showed how to take the dome cover off on a video. I know Rev. Sam had one showing how to recover the top windshield cover, but it is not on You tube anymore.
