Default Mecum just made us feel like

Had a bit of a shock when a 2001 XKR, black and I must admit, very nice just sold for $22,000.
Wonder how many will be on the block in the morning?

I've been seeing many XKRs and XK8s in the facebook marketplace with milleages between 30k and 80k selling for anywhere between $15k and $25k. I think the values are on the up.

Most expensive one in the UK is £19995 and it's not even the one I like design wise. It's a 2005 with 70k miles on it. Yea I guess they are going up a bit.

Used car prices for decently-cared-for vehicles have been trending upwards for the better part of a year now. A rising tide lifts all boats (and apparently XK8s / XKRs as well)....

To be honest, guys, I think it's a bubble. And bubbles burst.

I could be wrong.

Our Jaguar XK8 & XKR's are as good looking Today as they were when we bought ours...I'm still amazed at the number of people that come up to me in Parking Lots and at Restaurants to tell me how much they think of my XKR....A Lady stopped behind me last week got out of her Lexus and walked over to tell me how pretty the XKR is!

It's just a Beautiful Automobile! Was when I bought it and it still is! Some people even think it's an Aston Martin Vantage and will argue with you when you tell them that it's a Jaguar.....Kind of makes you feel good!

In the last few months, I've come out to my XKR three times to see people taking pics of / with it. I know it's the descendant of the E Type, but Enzo Ferrari called that car the most beautiful in the world.... Just sayin.

The proof of Beauty is the fact that the X-100 Coupe was designed sometime in early 1990's and still is holding up it's Beauty! (See Attached Photo)

The Ferrari was designed in 2020 or 21, around 25 years later and is not that much better looking, if at all! (See Attached Photo)

It's all subjective, of course, but Ferrari climbed aboard the "styling gimmicks" bandwagon.

Look at Ferrari styling from the 90s. handsome, not cartoonish.

I believe the word being sought for our cars is: Classy !!! Somewhat sporty, elegant but always Classy. TM

Yes these vehicles always get admiring looks. I was at the bowling alley the other day (reconnecting with one of my favorite pastimes when I was a teenager many moons ago) and one of the staff there happened to be outside when I was parking. He came over to marvel at how beautiful the car was and asked the age. He was even more amazed that it was a 2005 and went on and on how the look was so classic, etc. Happens all the time.

Looking at these Beautiful Cars makes you want to go out far a run! So, this afternoon I drove out to Sealy, TX and stopped by Hennessey Performance! but they were closed on Saturday....They build and sell Corvettes, Cobras, Trucks and just about any kind of Car you want! It's nothing to see a 1,000HP Pick-Up or a new 2003 Corvette with 1,000HP....

I live about 30 Mies from Hennessey Performance and I got on their eMail List......Every so often I get a U-tube Movies of one of their 1000 HP Performance Cars that they build out there.....They have their own Drag Strip that they test-drive these Supercharged Monsters on and all the Testing Equipment you can think of! in a really nice Building out there...Look them up on the Internet....
(HennesseyPerformance.com)

The Owner, John Hennessey has been experimenting with a Tesla "Plaid" lately....and it is quite a show.....The "Plaid" is Tesla's new Engine and configuration that has (2) Electric Motors in the Rear and (1) driving the Right Front Wheel.....The darn thing is turning in the 9's in the Quarter at close to 130 MPH! It's amazing to watch! This is the future for the Automobile! Musk has the Handle on the future....Hope I live long enough to change-out the XKR someday! All Battery Powered will be here before we know it....

In Norway 65 % of the new cars sold in 2021 was electric.
In January 2022 there where more Porsche Taycan (yes it is electric) sold than all the petrol driven cars together!

sounds like Norway has a better recharging system than does the USA.

While thinking about Charging Stations, I can't place were one is here in Houston! I have never seen one anywhere! I guess that when the time comes they will incorporate them into the Gas Stations or something! Where do all those new Porsche's get charged-up at in Norway? Do they have Charging Stations or do they get Charged at Home?

I've not thought about it.....Interesting! Could be a new Enterprise! "Billy Clyde's Charging Station"..."Take the "Plaid" over to Bill Clyde's and get her Charged-Up!

I think maybe it's a matter of "horses for courses" and we need to consider all factors involved with travel. we don't all live in urban settings.
I can drive straight through from my home in south west victoria to my son's home in Brisbane in around 22 hours in XKR. Just a guess but l think in electric the 22 hours would probably be swallowed up in recharging time long before l got to my destination.
