Default Mystery Hole

Hello all. Just removed my centre console to re-dye the leather armrest and give it a clean up when I came a crross this mystery sqaure hole? No idea as to what it's supposed to hold. It is definately meant to be there from the looks of it as seen by the plastic molding on the back. Thanks in advance for your input.

There is a possibility that your car has the factory car phone and a PO took it out. That looks like a pass through for the phone power wire.

Ah... cheers. I'll look into that. Ok, 10 minutes later discovered this little beauty listed on E-bay. Does'nt have the same sqaure hole but that's not to say it wasn't a different edition.

There's a rocker switch fits in there but I can't remember what it does.

(It's been a few years since I had an XK8.)

I have the same hole in my '97. I mounted a switch in there to lower the antenna when I'm playing a CD.

Since you have such a big hole to fill perhaps you could make use of the extra large antenna switch I chose to use.

Looks about right.

I have the same 'phone but no hole? Slots to hold musicassettes... Ah, nostalgia.

+1 on Rothwell/ozbot's suggestion, unless you're still an active member of SETI

My bet is that someone swapped in the X300 cubby box for the faulty/damaged/installed phone or some other problem original.

The X300 has a VALET switch in that position!!!

The XJ40,X300, X308 and X100 are all pretty much interchangeable.

Hi and thanks for your reply, my first thought was boot switch as it's closest to the boot, maybe vallet switch then.
