Default No Smog

I have been having issues with my '99 vert passing California smog test. Everything is fine, except for 3 monitors not completing, catalytic, comprehensive and one more I can't think of at this moment. Anyway, I have the car reprogrammed with the latest version of software, took it to the Referee station and STILL won't pass. I was told that the comprehensive should automatically clear and I need to have it looked at. Does anyone know what needs to be done? what needs to be replaced, etc .??? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Some owners have reported having to drive hundreds of miles before all the monitors finally reset after certain repairs....

There is a great read on background here: Training Guide 801S-2000 pdf

You have 2 options:

Keep driving the car until it somehow hits the conditions these monitors are looking for. It means driving under varies conditions, i.e. a long 60MPH drive on the interstate is not going to cut it. This is where reading the document above will give you a sense of what these monitors are looking for. Then it is up to you to try and replicate that on the street as best you can.

Or get some data (a cheap ELM327 will do), and start looking around the OBDII data. Start with high fuel trims (indicating air leaks, but not high enough for a code), compare intake air temperature with ambient temp for a faulty sensor, check air flow meter numbers, etc. This tool will also tell you which monitor completed and which ones do not.

I believe that after a while, these tests will fail altogether and give you codes. Those will help the diagnostics further. Check the pending codes for more hints. Codes are your friend. Don'e erase them. Don't kill the messenger.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Perhaps you should consider reading article regarding The Ford Driving Cycle. It details how and what conditions are required to return the ECU to normal after a reset. Google Ford Driving Cycle and there are detailed instructions how to reset the ECU for all the tests required to pass Federal Emission Standards. Ford and Jaguar used this during Ford's ownership. My car required a serious attempt to get it to reset from P1000 to P1111. Had to go WOT hard 2-3 times. Once you have successfully performed the required steps, you should get a code P1100. If not, there is a malfunction in systems noted. Will have to check further.

That's P1111, not 1100.

The suggestion for the performing the drive sequence is the first step. I have attached the drive cycles for the XK from the Tech manual. Perform the steps as written and then check for the monitors setting. If they haven't set then get the codes read. Most auto parts stores now will read them for free.
If all you get after performing the drive cycles is P1000 or P1111 and the monitors are not set you will have to go to a shop that has WDS/IDDS dealer level software to query the monitors and determine the cause of your problem.
