Default P1230 but P1111 also????

Helping a buddy with his XK8 and must say it needed a battery and replaced. Did a few drive cycles and couple of items show on the OBD II.
The P1230 but then the next one is P1111. That was a bit confusing, as the car runs great. I thought P1111 was all OK???
Standard XK8 4.0 2002 late in the year, so don't think it's a plastic tensioner one. Not that that has any thing to do with this.
The check engine light is not showing and he was headed to the inspection station, but the ABS light is on. My reader won't clear that and as it has P1111, didn't want to mess that up.
He may need the cold solder fix, but I'm still a bit miffed with the P1230, codes for his year show fuel pump relay, others show Oxygen Sensor. I'll get with the Forum's code search to be sure, but thought I would throw it out there for some expect help.
Not my area for sure. Thanks for any forward or next step information.

P1230 is fuel pump relay. Must be mostly OK if the car is behaving. I'd remove the relay, clean the contacts and reseat as a first move.

Does your inspection regime not mind an ABS warning?

Thank you Michael, will do.
NNOOO, they do not, so that has to be fixed first thing. May let him take to a indy, don't like the responsibility of taking someone else's brake system apart.

Thanks for the info, will put that in a safe place.
Up date.
Drove the car around and cut the switch on and off a few times. ABS is off after hitting the brakes hard a few times. I think a sensor cleaning is in his future.
Relay looked OK, but cleaned and installed with the key off. I will check it in a few days and clear the code if all is well and after inspection. Love the P1111.
I was able to fix one problem others might have.
The rubber was out of it's channel on the back window all along the top and in the left corner at the bottom.
Cleaned it up with a stiff cleaning brush and then a soft one with soap and water. Hair dryer and applied the yellow glue for rubber. There is a channel in the rubber and a small screwdriver helps get it in place around the glass. Just put the glue on the edge of the glass, that way it won't get glue all over the outside.
Just fold it into the glass and shove the bottom of the rubber under the glass.
Don't get too aggressive with the screwdriver, the glass will break.

You might do better NOT to clear the code, because doing so will clear all the OBD monitors and thus change the P1111 to P1000. Not a problem if P1111 comes back soon and if you've no faults in that time and don't need a smog check or the like.

Potentially a nightmare, though, as until P1111 comes back many faults cannot be flagged and of course a smog check would fail.

If you fix the P1230 it should self-clear anyway (takes 4 warm ups or so).

Wayne said he would wait until after the mandatory state inspection before he clears any codes. He knows that doing so will require many miles and drive cycles to clear all the readiness monitors afterwards. Let's hope the ABS light stays off....

I'm wondering why there is thought to be any reason to clear codes at all here?

JagV8, you are right and no need to clear any codes if I'm getting the P1111.
But then again, you are not me and if the drive cycles don't clear a unrelated emissions problem and I checked for function. Well, lets clear it and if it comes back, time for a bit more serious research. If I believed every code these cars throw, say with a weak battery, I would have to take it apart daily.
We don't have many mechanics in the area of 50 miles or so that even know how to open the bonnet on one of these cars, so the Forum is our Go To Manual. Just had mine done and he went to the front and was pulling on it, until I motioned to the back. Opened the boot and gas cap door twice.
So if I do it wrong it's because I'm not trying to get it right.
As always, thanks for any help, Wayne
