Default Parking sensors

I had a faulty rear parking sensor on my 2005 xkr so changed it but had a continuous bleeping sound in reverse. Got it plugged in and code
DTC B2477 configuration failure so changed the parking aid module to which it was naming. Still the same continuous bleeping in reverse I am at a loss to what I can check now . Any help would be appreciated thanks

B2477 code may not indicate a park sensor fault. One can test the sensors (usually 4 on rear cover) by having someone start car and mash brake,
then you listen carefully to each one. 1 at each corner and 2 near the center under tag.. They are good when they click and if no click, needs replacement. Please add your car to your signature for future use.

Turn the key to ON and put the selector in R. (engine OFF set handbrake)

Safer that getting run over with engine ON.

I had a problem with mine as well. There are some videos showing getting them working again by spraying wd40 into the sensor as they are susceptible to moisture. I found that one of mine wasn’t actually disconnected. I had to take the wire harness connector apart and clean it to get it reconnected and working.

Yes, those harness connections get filthy in that location.

Default Note: Central Sensor Removal Q?

For those with US-spec cars who have successfully removed one of the central rear parking sensors: did you have to remove the rear bumper cover to gain access to that central sensor? The factory service manual seems to say you have to remove the bumper cover for the US-spec cars, but not for other-country-spec cars. Also, to remove the bumper cover, are there a bunch of fasteners at the top inner edge of the bumper cover that need to be removed?

My 2006 did the same thing, it took a while but found the wire was broken inside the insulation. Had to solder the wire back together and tape it. That is why it worked intermittently, the wires touched and separated randomly. Good luck finding it!

on my 2002 XKR I did have to loosen the bumper cover and rest it on a couple of boxes while I changed out the sensors. I don’t recall exactly what bolts were involved. Sorry. But the whole process took only 45 minutes more or less.
