rear view mirror problem
After 11 years of ownership of my 2001 XKR, I'm not really surprised at things going wrong with it but this problem is one I have not seen in 47 years of driving.
My rear view mirror is now showing a large oval cloud with the reflection all distorted and a yellow tint to it.
Is this something that can be fixed without replacement?

about a few months ago i just went through this, after 3 replacement used mirrors, i sent it to a guy in texas that rebuilds these...his info is someplace...there and back in about 10 days. my post is here someplace....
the other place is mentioned on this post.
his cost to me was $99.00 plus some shipping on my end, total about $125....worth it.
you should change it out, not only annoying but it can leak on your interior causing damage.
take the mirror off by pulling it slightly downward, it is meant to break off upon an accident, so it will come off easily ...downward...very carefully...do not use a hammer or a tool carefully remove it, or break the glass and have to start over! you need to unplug it so removal of some interior bits is needed, a screwdriver, and something to pry with, gently...
if your door is open during this and the interior lights are on for any amount of time...they get hot so careful not to get burned when working in this area, that cover has to come off to get to the wire...there are two kinds of mirrors, dealing with rain sensor or not....mine had a yellow connector and no rain sensor.
