Rear wheel bearing replacement.
Is there a walk thru on replacing the rear wheel bearings?. I have some play that was noted when it had it's mot. Are they plain bearings that are tightened as tight as possible, or taper fit. Many thanks . Anthony.
Be aware that some play 6-12 o' clock is normal, or could be other than the wheel bearings - take a look at this thread:

Thanks for the reply, i will get the car off the ground and check it. I noticed looking back through previous mot's it was mentioned as having slight play in osr bearing. There is no noise from it, so will probably leave it alone.
Ant, fyi, yes there are several write ups. I'm sure I was involved in a few :-).
One nice surprise, the last time I did this, I just ordered rear wheel bearing kit from jaguar. Price was on the reasonable side, but the big surprise (?) - they ship Timken bearings, a brand my mechanic friends always put at the top of their list.
Heads up: if you do the job or start messing around with tightening the axle nut - buy a new nut. Trust me they aren't kidding that it IS NOT reusable.
