The main cruise control is up by the steering wheel. If we are talking xk8/R
The one next to the S Sport mode button is for adaptive cruise control. If you do not have adaptive cruise control you will not have a button for it.
I have not had too much time in the drivers seat yet - been busy replacing hydraulic hoses. seems to me that most cars have an on/off button for the cruise control, but none here. Am I to assume that it is always "on" and you just hit "set" and go?? I do not not have the adaptive cruise control.
Taking another spin this morning. Guess that I wiil just try the set button.
Also looking for a good shop manual. Anything on line that I can download????
shop manual is available as a pdf in the stickies at the top of this forum section - link provided below then scroll down the page to "Workshop Manuals" You will need the 3rd edition
I just did the replacement of the hydraulic hoses on my 2003 XK8. Not quite done but the top works.
When I took the header cover off the fabric came off and dumped brown powder all over. I am guessing that it used to be foam rubber.
There is a white connector that I don't know where it goes. Can any one share a picture of what it's supposed to look like under the header cover?
Along the way something happened to the emergency brake. It feels like the cable came off and there is a dash lite "BRAKE" in red.
It took me about 15 hours over 3 days so far. I am a senior citizen so I work at a slow pace. Even though, I feel like I just played football with some twenty somethings.
Thanks a lot Frankc. Without your write up I never would have tackled this job. I won't do it again either.
You have 2 white plugs in the header the one to the left is for the switches in the header for the roof and the one to the right is for the header light panel.
I could be wrong but that does not look correct. Form my experience with the roof the plug on the left is the plug for the header switch plugs not to the lights. This is a photo from my 1999. The only way to be sure is to match the wire color codes with each other using the oneline.

My pleasure. Glad you found it useful.
Though I am not too sure what you mean by "header cover" do you mean the bit where the light clips into?
In my original posting on Franks Story the third? picture down you will see I wrote underneath that the light connects to the White connector. If you keep reading further down I put that the visors are connected to the yellow connectors. Take a look if you want reassurance its all in there. https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=75123&p=1094300&viewfull=1#post10 94300
Another point. You asked about a loose black wire? If you go back to my original posting you will see a photo of a single black wire over the brace bar in my photo. I assume it has something to do with the speakers?
This is from my original posting showing the single black wire, which I admit I had forgotten all about until I browsed the posting again.
Yes. The upholstered piece that covers the top locking mechanism and the light panel fits into it.
I matched up the plugs and sockets. There is only one way for them to fit.
