Default Suspension Rebuild Act II

Here are some pics of the suspension nearing the end of my second front end rebuild. I pulled and painted the crossmember and replaced both broken engine mounts. We're not finished, but pretty close.

I can appreciate the amount of work you've put in there - looks great.

Looking very good, Gordo. You're like me...when I get in to fix something, I not only want it fixed, I want it looking better when I'm done.

Quality work. Have you been pressing all the bushes, etc. yourself?

The lower control arms bushes were pressed in 15K miles ago. This rebuild was to fix a bent upper A-Arm pivot bolt and broken motor mounts. However, everything was gone through including some new power steering hoses, new rubber parts, O-rings,etc.

Very nice work and detailing... on the underside of the car... where only you will see it.

I can totally relate to that.

Very nice work. I'm not sure the topside of mine looks that good most days.

Nobody else caught this?

I like the photo of the wife scowling (?) in the background.

LOL, quite the opposite. The little misses is 100% on board w/ the Jag and all my other car hobbies. She likes that I have a fun hobby and she never complains about the costs. In fact she usually is the one to say, "Spend the extra and get what you really want." She is the brake switch under-the-dash designate, a great brake-bleeder, and has those small hands we all sometimes need.

In the photo, seeing me precariously underneath the car, she is asking if my life insurance is paid up in full.

It does look tidy under there, especially for a 97. Great job.

Don't forget to re-attach that ground lead dangling there.

For bushings, if I did it again now, I would use the rebuild kit from Jaguar Parts | Land Rover & Range Rover Parts | British Parts UK

However, I buy most of my parts from Jag/Porsche Las Vegas (Gaudin) Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com

The most dramatic improvement came after I discovered both engine mounts were broken. Basically, the engine was held in place by gravity. After installing two new mounts, the whole feel of the car changed. I wouldn't have caught this problem had I not dropped the crossmember/subframe. Very glad I did.
