Default Takata recall - are we part of it?

Mine is over 15 years old so I don't think it would be covered even if it is part of the massive recall.

Go to the following Jaguar recall web site and put your vin # in it will tell if there is any recalls
VIN RECALL
I don't think these bags go back that far either I believe it's newer years.

The recall has brought up the fact that Jaguar and other manufacturers recommend replacing air bags that are more than 10 years old. That covers most of the XK8/R years.

Another data point:

Spoiler alert: Jaguar is not listed as of now

I wonder if there's any technical justification for that or if it's just because everything seems to be required to have a 'sell by' date.

I think the database not the Jag site must be incorrect. There are no recalls for my VIN. I call bullshit on that. Every car has a recall unless the dealt with every thing using TSBs.

The wife's '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee just got a new trailer hitch installed as part of a recall to protect against rear ends exploding on impact. So that adds up to over twenty years. If it's wrong, it's wrong and loved ones are dyeing daily because companies are trying to save a few bucks.
They have been doing it all along, we are just getting the exposure now by safety programs and thank you very much.

Wayne,

While I know adding the trailer hitch is Jeep's official fix for resolving the exploding gas tank problem, the national jury is still out on how effective that action will be in the event of a rear-end collision. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Christine will never need to find out....
