Does anyone have experience with Ultra Racing's brace bars? I am looking at getting the front lower bar and the rear lower bar. The rear bar that fits the coupe is advertised as being for the XJR. (The XK8/R rear brace bar will only fit the convertible). This has me thinking....will the front lower bar fit on a coupe? I am not sure if the brace bar locations are different from the convertible, but I don't really want to drill. I have both front and rear ARB poly bushings coming as well, so handling shall be much improved with the help of the bars. But do they fit?

I have substantial experience with subframe connectors that were installed on many different makes and year of manufacture autos. The parts you show fall squarely into the category of subframe connectors.

Without exception , the bolt in type provide an insignificant improvement of chassis strength and stiffness. These same bars do show varying degrees of effectiveness once they are welded in place.

the differences between bolting-in and welding-in of subframe connectors cannot be overstated as it relates to chassis strength and resistance to deforming under the stresses associated with cornering, acceleration, and braking.


if these parts cannot be welded permanently in place, which I don’t see how that can be accomplished, then don’t waste your money.

I also have experience with SFC and agree with Z.
An upper strut bar will make a noticable tightening.
I wish they offered an upper bar for my 2005.

No it won't. Upper strut bars do offer significant stiffening improvements on cars with McPherson struts. Not so much with cars that use double-wishbone suspensions like ours. If you want tightening, a larger anti-roll bar or upgrading to quality coil-overs would do the trick.

 

I guess we'll disagree. Yes more effective with McPherson Struts but...my 2005 convertible would be th tightened up, your coupe doesn't suffer the cowl shake and twist that my car does.

I have the front upper strut brace on the front of my 2000 XK8 and yes a substantially more solid feel on the steering, less jitter..
I bought the rear lower brace on Black Friday , looking forward to fitting and trying in the spring.. Good value gear, In my opinion!
