US Radio with MW, LW bands
Hello all,
So I was working on a problem with my headlights on the signal stalk of my 01 XK8 with premium sound.
I disconnected the battery, and removed the steering wheel. Repair went great, except after reassembly, the stereo asked for a code.
I didn't have a code. My local Jaguar dealer wanted $150. I called Coventry West, and they were so nice and helpful! They gave me a code based on my VIN, and the radio was back. Only, now instead of AM I have MW and LW.
Anybody know a way I can get my AM band back? I'm missing a lot of Cubs baseball!
Thank you for any help!

Press 'Tape Eject' and 'FM/AM' buttons at the same time Display should say 'set up'
Then use preset buttons for :
1 - sets either US or Australia if not in the UK, Europe or Japan
2 - sets Tape Clean reminder
3 - sets Aerial Clean reminder
4 - sets telephone mute option.
After 15 seconds, display clears and new settings are stored.
Try option 1 - it might work !!

Can't remember all the stuff I leaned many years ago when I started as a broadcast engineer, but here in the UK, although FM, and more recently DAB, have pretty much become "the norm", we sill have short wave, medium wave, and long wave - all grouped under the "AM" (amplitude modulated) category, rather than "FM" (frequency modulated) category - also called VHF here (very high frequency as opposed to UHF which is ultra high frequency).
Short wave is little used now - it used to be the way of getting radio over the horizon by bouncing the signal off the ionosphere and therefore over very long distances. We still have some AM stations here on medium wave mainly because DAB is not yet universally available, and the BBC still broadcasts on Long Wave (Radio 4) which would be the national station in the event of a major national emergency and could pretty much cover the whole of the UK and quite a bit of Europe from one transmitter. I remember listening to news of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales in my car in the French Pyrenees from the BBC Long Wave news broadcast - that's how far it travels !!

Thanks robot808 .
David, wow, great info. Hey did the "diversity antennas" mentioned in my 1998's user guide ever normal equipment over There? From what I recall it used 2 antennas, I suppose a fixed portion of a wave length apart , to improve reception.
sounds like you had a cool job, I'm jealous.
