Default Waiting for ECU to finish monitor for cat.

I have been trying to get my 2001 XKR to finish the monitors so I can get it smogged here in California. All the monitors have cleared except the Cat. I have driven the car about 150 mile in varying conditions, short trips and long. High speed and modest. It has still not cleared that monitor.
Today I asked my son to drive the car while I used my laptop to monitor the data. Someone suggested that I check the fuel trims, that this could be a possible issue. I am using a scanner program called Auto Enginuity. It seems to be a pretty in depth tool. I checked the long term fuel trims first. On both banks the number ran around 3.12 and 2.34 at the start of the trip and 1.56 and 0.00 toward the end. The O2 sensors ran around .12 and .095,and they varied up and down as we drove, as they are supposed to do. I think these are good numbers, the car seems to run great. What else should I be looking at? It was nice to see that even on a hot day with the AC running full blast the engine temp never went above 200f. My XK8 runs a lot hotter than that.
The only pending code is P1000, which simply means that it has not finished checking. Any ideas what to do next?

The Catalyst Efficiency Monitor Drive Cycle is the most straighforward of the six diagnostic monitors:

1. start engine and bring to normal operating temperature > 82 °C (180 °F).
2 drive vehicle steadily between 1700 – 2500 rpm for 5 minutes.

Odd that you are having issues with this one without any DTC's other than the P1000 System Readiness Test being reported.

I used to use AutoEnginuity with the Jaguar Enhanced Interface but gave it up a few years ago because of inconsistent and inaccurate results which their technical support could not resolve.

To eliminate that AE could be giving a false scan, have you tried another scantool to check the P1000 and Cat readiness report is actually valid?

Remember, the fuel trims are a function of rpm and engine load, so they are best visualized as an elevation map. On the face of it, these numbers are excellent, for whatever rpm/load. Can you confirm if these were taken at idle? Idle draws a lot of vacuum and low amounts of fuel, making air leaks more obvious.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions. Yes, I have tried other scanners. I have a AQV OBD2 that I purchased on Amazon just last month. It is a hand held and a little easier to set up. But the data is the same: pending code P1000. No other codes. I also have an older scanner, one that even reads OBD1 codes. It says the same.
As for the Auto Enginuity scanner, I have not has any issues with it. I don't have the Jaguar specific module, I have considered purchasing it. I also have a 2002 XK8 that has a lot of issues that are not engine related. I.E. top not closed, ABS disabled, Trac not available, etc. I was hoping the extra module might help me trace those problems.
Ironically the XKR has no codes or error messages, other than the pending P1000. And it has more mileage and has lead a hard life before I purchased it.

I intend to take it for a longer ride this weekend, on the freeway at sustained speed of at least 55 mph. I hope this does the deed, I am running out of time to get this thing through smog.

My suggestion for the XK8 is to have the battery load tested as you will often get spurious codes from a failing battery.

As for the P1000 cat sensor not ready, I am having the same damn problem! Done all the drive cycles etc. It was fine before the battery went flat. Had the battery tested so that's ok. I got everything to reset except the Cat sensor then when I was checking it again all the spurious codes came back so I had to reset again so back to square one. Only been running errands recently but even after a 240 ml round trip the cat sensor didn't reset.

Well, I finally did it. The key seemed to be to get on the freeway and hold it right at 55 mph for as long as possible. Traffic wouldn't allow me to just set in the lane with the cruise control on, but I did get some 5 or 6 minute stretches at that speed. As mechanic friend of mine told me that is what he had to do to get is Ford truck to clear. All I can say is that something worked.
Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.

I ran into this when I first bought my XKR. The battery died in transport. It took 8 months, many miles, and hoops, to finally get all ready so I could pass NJ. Now i'm back to square one, as I trace evap leak. and reset. I assume if I can fix the evap leak, I can get it thru NJ inspection by April. But I had the same, Cat Converters not ready, but then Comprehensive Component took forever.
