Default X100 subframe mounts

I have a clunk in my front end at low speeds while turning or traveling over uneven surfaces. I have been to two reputable suspension shops, and they can find nothing wrong. I suspect the subframe mounts have deteriorated and need to be replaced.
Is there a way to inspect these mounts without dropping the subframe? This is beyond my capabilities, and I will need to have a shop perform the repairs if needed. Any insight or guidance is appreciated.

What is the condition of your front upper shock mounts?

Mark, take a measurement from the center of the front wheel, right in the middle of the emblem to the top of the curve in the fender on the front wheels and list them here or another thread. That will tell if something is amiss.
Anything about 15 inches is normal for top shock mount issue below that could be a combination of spring and mount. The
Sorry you have not someone in the area to help, but I do remember a member in Virgina Beach that has put my revised mounts on and maybe he will come in if you ask the question in a new thread, as this one is not going to lead you in the right direction. The subframe is a completely different problem, sorry about that but hope this will help.

Original shock mounts were replaced with Welsh garbage that disintegrated within 3,000 miles. Those were replaced two years ago with Jaguar OEM components and are in perfect condition. Upper A arm bushings and front shocks were replaced at that time. Sway bar bushings were replaced last month. Shock mounts and suspension components were inspected by me, a Jaguar specialty shop and a suspension only shop. Neither of the shops could find anything in the suspension which leads me to the subframe mounts.

The Jaguar OEM mounts have not been manufactured for some years and they deteriorate due to age, even if just sitting on a shelf. Have you removed the caps on the shock towers and confirmed the nuts on the shock studs are still centered in the bushings? As Wayne already suggested, check the ride heights too.

Take a look at this thread from PKWise re the vee mounts:

The front crossbeam mounts are easier to inspect.

Two things that I have seen and fixed on my 2002 XKR.
1. One of the sway bar bushings was loose, causing the bar to knock when going over bumps. Certainly not a hazardous situation, but it was annoying. It was easy to replace.
2. Doing an oil change, happened to look up into the pocket where the right rear subframe bolt goes. I saw a hole without a bolt. No idea when or where it went. Also easy to replace. This one made me worry. Now I check the subframe bolts for torque every time I'm under the front end.

Thank you all for your feedback. I have asked a local well qualified shop to give me an estimate to replace the subframe and motor mounts. Certainly not something I can do in my garage.

My experience has been that sometimes sway bar links are difficult to diagnose (save electronic chassis ears). Fortunately, even my cheap replacement Uro links (<$50) have served me well for nearly 5 years. I agree that this is an easy replacement.
