Default XK8 '97 convertible - Low hydraulic fluid

The fluid level at the pump for the top is as far below the "top raised" level as the "top down" level is above the "top raised" level, so maybe 100ml missing. (I found out because pump made noise and top struggled to raise.) Fluid still looks green. Question is where has the missing fluid gone. There are no signs of leakage when removing the courtecy light panel at the windscreen. Feeling with my hands behind back seat cushion everything nice and dry. Same when feeling behind edges of back seat back rest. Ditto in recess for top behind seats. No signs of wayward fluid in the luggage compartment, I removed rear and side trim panels in trunk. No signs of fluid from LH A-post, nor in carpet in rear footwell etc.. 100ml of fluid "should" make a stain if leaking below the carpets as it has nowhere to go.

So where else should I look? Or could fluid sweat from e.g. hydraulic ram at a rate that will not make surroundings wet and sticky? I have no idea if PO ever topped up reservoir. (I have ordered fluid so will top up and observe unless I find an actual leakage.)

Have a look on the bottom of the car between the B pillow and the wheel arch, both sides. You have checked all the other places I can think off, but that was the tell tell sign my rams were leaking.
You might be lucky and the PO didn't ever check it.

Pull the rear loudspeaker housings and you will find your answer.

Huh! The pump in my '99, 107k convertible has a slight 'drinking problem' too! Looked and looked and wondered where it was going. Now, what's the cause? A hose? A fitting? A simple O-ring? Now, I'm just periodically topping off when the top slow down but stuff like this really aggravates my OCD.

Probably a hose failure at the fitting. Plenty of threads here on the forum detailing your replacement options. Search the forum using "green shower repair" or "convertible top hydraulic hose repair" as your search phrase and be prepared to spend plenty of time studying the resulting descriptions and photos....
