XK8 battery flat and no battery access in boot
If your battery is flat and you cannot get access to the battery / luggage compartment. Try charging from under the bonnet/boot (but do not jump start from here!).
Why not just use the key to open the trunk ?
If you don’t have a key what does it matter if the battery is dead or not, as you won’t be starting the engine .

PS. of course if the trunk is full of dead bodies and you don’t want the nearby curious policeman to see them, then yes, charging via the engine bay does seem like a very good idea.

I basically have no sympathy for people that don't use the key in the boot lid lock at least a few times a year to keep it mechanically operative.
Seems like people only try it when all else fails and then only after 10 years. (after it is seized)
Don't even get me started on having only ONE KEY.

Now there's a topic screaming out for a lengthy VIDEO.

When customers came in with a problem like HOW TO PROGRAM A REMOTE GARAGE DOOR OPENER and wanted some official Jaguar technical documentation, I used to get the owner's manual form the cubby and take it to the copy machine to copy the relevant page(s) and place the booklet and copies on the seat.
The service writer would call me into the office to tell me that the customer was NOT AMUSED!
If the car was not broken, I could not fix it.

To honest I am thinking of recording videos of the standard documentation you get with the car.
After I've done all the books and the important brochures.
Many of the manuals get lost between owners and people don't realise what should come with the vehicle.
Another excuse for a lengthy video.
Been removing my door latch just for the video content.
The door card was off to do the anti-rattle strips and then off we go on a tangent.
Will be referencing the forum (GGG and DrDSP posts in particular) as didn't want to remove my working microswitches.
I didn't get the experience so just sharing yours.
Will be sharing links to the relevant posts on the forum on the channel.
Hope you guys don't mind.

Owen, I know you are wanting to do a great deed and it will take a lot of work.
Thank you and I hope you can add to the knowledge we all are unaware of.
In the mean time, if you go to JaguarRepair, I think you will be surprised how well Gus has covered some very tricky fixes.

So< I just read this post and went out to check my 2021 R-Dynamic convertible.
I did not find a key position for the trunk.
The owner's handbook does not mention there being one either.
Being a convertible there is no automatic opening/closing mechanism.
I have a (electric) release button in the cabin and manual release button under the lip of the trunk.
What am I missing??

CJSJAG, this modern stuff isn't my thing and not familiar with them. Thought I heard somewhere that some Jags have a lock hidden behind the number/license plate. Might be worth a look. Sorry if that doesn't help, thanks for the comment, regards Damian
