Just my 2 cents and your car your money, I've never understood the " angels eyes" addition to older cars. Modern gimmicks on older cars looks a little to pasted on for my taste. Guess I'm just an old fart!

I think it depends on the mod and the car. The X100 doesn't look dated at all -
certainly with mine most people don't realise they are looking at a car coming up to its 17th birthday. So a few modern additions, like the lighting, aren't necessarily out of place.

That said, mine is 99.9% original - the only new thing is the sat nav, but it looks as close to OEM as I could make it.

"de gustibus non disputandum est"

Had to google it but couldn't agree more!

Details on the lights? I love the way that looks

I vote for "Pretty Cool"; did you get the regular Silverstone Portfolio ultra bright illumination listed for $28 or the 6X Portfolio ultra bright illumination for $41?

It's needed to see them in person, but from the pics, I rather like them!

Question LED "Halo Lighting"

Giogio,

What can I say nice? Oh! I question your taste! How's that?

While you were doing all this work, did you change-out the High-Beams to one of the new LED bulb kits? What about your HID low Beams.....Did you replace the old Bulb while you were in there? I sure hope you didn't waste the opportunity to upgrade!

I made this nice change because I had the Xenon headlights as standard, it was anti-aesthetic to see the white light of the headlights with the small yellow position light. now is all white light. I think the best solution since the xk8 is still having a fantastic line at the pace with the times.

Not sure yet if I would do it myself, but it certainly has something, so thanks for sharing, its tempting...

I like the purity of my car as well (besides some drivetrain thingies which are now a bit more purer ), only mods done so far are taking away the side reflectors on the bumpers, installed a 2005 front bumper and best of all (next to the xenon lights of the 2003+ models) the later 2005 rear smoke lights these really refreshes the looks over the more dull original ones imho.

Lightbulb An idea for Andre's 2005 Front Bumper..

I installed Phillips LED Daytime Driving Lights in the lower opening of the 2005 Front Bumper....I think they really look great during the day and at night they automatically dim for on-coming traffic...and when I click the Key Fob to unlock the door they come on...They also come on when you open the door! That's handy at night, when you're getting out! Also, they don't make it look like a BMW!

I'm not sure everyone would like the idea but what the Heck...only those of us with the 2005-2006 style Bumper can do this anyway! Just a thought for your new Bumper......."It's a matter of Taste!"

Was the electrical part of the installation difficult? Did you investigate the possibility of the Canadian cars, daytime running lights from Jaguar? For “Purity” sake :-), could a person connect the parking lights to some aftermarket daytime running light kit? Do you or anybody know? I do like the led lights as you installed them. :-)
Related but different, I inquired of an auto electrical shop with a very good reputation, if HID headlights could be installed in my 2000 Xkr (I now have a 2005 xk8) and the guy said, in effect, you run a great risk of messing up a computer module, which is a fortune to repair and replace. At the time I was told the Jaguar conversion kit was no longer available, which I assume is true for my 2005 as well. Tom :-)

Lightbulb Lets put some light on it!

ThomasL,

Several answers for you:
1. I bought the Best Kit on the Market (Phillips) and followed the directions...The Kit is not hard to Install and cost about $165.00 when I bought it....
2. No, I don't care what Canada requires....I'm in Texas
3. I didn't need to know if I could connect them to the Parking lights as that not the way these lights work.....
4. I haven't ask anybody if I could replace my Halogen High Beams with an LED Kit, I just bought a quality Kit from CarID and replaced the original Jaguar set-up...They work absolutely great.....I assume the electrical shop has not kept up with the times as today's Kits over-ride any Error Messages you might receive, if you hook-up it up correctly....My Bright's work just like my old Halogen High Beams except they are about 3 times brighter...I also changed the HID bulbs in the Low Beams as they were 10 or 12 years old and that made another big difference, especially after I adjusted the Low Beams....over the years the Front-end settles abit and the lights need to be adjusted back up a little.....
Now, Tom, all this is on my 2005 XKR and it working perfectly as of 5 minutes ago and has for well over a year.....If you drive much at night, the LED High Beams will make you very happy as will new HID Bulbs in your low Beams! (After adjustment)
5. Tom, with the help of one of the Forum Members, I have been able to change out my Tail Light Bulbs to LED Bulbs. After I changed my Tail Light Lens to the "Victory Edition" style Lens, I decided to make the LED Bulb change also. It is more time consuming as you have to do some soldering....but Tom, they are beautiful and the Back-up light looks like a Search Light at Night.....
6. The front nose-piece on the 2005-06 XKR (See Photo above) has this small 2nd grill underneath the main one....this is a great place for the DTRLs to set. If your grill is not set-up that way....you will probably have to set the DTRLs up as they do in Canada by using the Fog Lights and I don't know how that works but I'll bet you some one on the Forum does.....Just ask!
