XKR Coupe Available

XKR Coupe Available
I saw this ad on Craigslist, and it looks like a great opportunity to purchase an extremely low mileage car with tensioner issue out of the way, pulley upgrades, and service history for a very reasonable price (and maybe negotiable).
If I didn't already have two XKR's, I would seriously be considering this coupe.

The seller withdrew the post, I assume because it was sold. It looked to be in excellent condition, low miles (under 40K) and had all the right information on what was done. Tensioners, timing chains, gaskets all done, pulley upgrade and tune, immaculate condtion and only $13,000 asking price? For a brief, crazy moment, I almost considered adding a third XKR to my stable. I thought the car was gorgeous, priced right, all maintenance records, and all of the "heavy lifting" issues already taken care of. Someone got themselves a gem at a very low price.
Hope he/she joins the Forum so we can find out just how good a buy it really was.

The reason why the Craigslist ad was deleted was that I purchased the car. Actually, I re-purchased it. I owned the car from 2003-2009 and did most of the upgrades. The previous (interim) owner did the tensioner/timing chain update (out of precaution) and put on new Michelin tires. He was kind enough to offer it to me at a price I couldn't refuse since he knew how much I enjoyed the car. I now have another parking spot for it so it was an easy decision. I'm looking forward to my continued ownership of this car and to take advantage of the expertise on this forum.

Congratulations on getting her back. I seriously considered responding to the ad, and I need another car like a hole in the head as I have about 12. But, that coupe looked beautiful and all of the necessary precautions were already taken, and with the power upgrades was almost too much for me to pass up.
I'm glad she went back to a forum participant who appreciates her.

Yes, I'm very happy that I was able to reacquire this XKR. It's a great car.
I'm in the Los Angeles area (west of Pasadena) although the XKR will probably spend most of its time in our 2nd home in Ventura County.
I notice that our car preferences are similar. I've owned a 65 GTO and currently have a 69 L71 Corvette.

I am curious to hear about your impressions of what the lower pulley upgrade did for you.
Did you notice first gear pulling away from standstill more powerful?
Does the upgrade overwhelm the tires so the traction has to kick in to keep the tires planted?
Of course my situation would be different as I am at 5300 ft elevation so we typically have less power unless you have a turbo engine.

I also have the lower pulley upgrade on my car and yes, the ATC will actuate and the back wheels break away a little if I give it full throttle from a standing start. However, I have also changed the real axel ratio from the stock 3.06 to a 3.27. The low end response is impressive.

It's been almost 10 years since I did the lower pulley/ECU reprogramming/larger intercooler upgrade but my recollection is that the car was noticeably more responsive, particularly in the lower and mid range. The car still runs very strong but I don't have a comparison vehicle handy. I don't recall traction control kicking in but I mostly used the extra power in passing, etc.
