Default XKR "Tourismo Sport"

I just purchased a black 2006 XKR Coupe with Brembo brakes (red), drilled rotors, Recaro seats, dark wood dash, 20" wheels etc. It is not a Victory Edition, but on the left rear panel it has a badge which reads "Tourismo Sport." I did not see reference to a "Tourismo Sport" package in the 2006 XK brochures. Does anyone have any information which might shed light on this badging?

Sounds like an aftermarket badge that someone decided to add....

do a Google image search and see if yours pops up. Sounds like an aftermarket badge.

Smile That's interesting

JRabbit,

That's interesting but it sounds bogus......How about sending a Photo for us to look over? I've heard of several different models like the "Victory Edition" and several others, but never "Tourismo Sport"!

Congratulations on you new XKR! What's the Interior Color and which of the 20"Wheels came on it? Shoot a Photo of the interior as I would like to see the Recaro seats!

Thanks! Billy Clyde

I've got agree with others here. Also, Jaguar would not use "Tourismo"-- they are British and have been consistent with using English terms.

Just noted from your earlier post on production numbers that our 2006 Black XKR coupes share a February 2005 birthday. Small continent.

Wow! Mr. Rabbit,

I really like those Recaro seats! They really look nice in there! I'll bet PrettyBluefin would like to have them in the Silver Streak! Thanks for the Photos and I want you to know that you have done well as this XKR is almost as pretty as mine! Not quite, but close!.....What are the details on the Wheels? You said they were 20's but which ones? Interesting how Jaguar changed up so many things in 2006.....Must have gone through the closets in the Factory looking for something new to put on the XKR.....
How many XKR Coupes were made for the USA in 2006? Does someone have that number?

Billy Clyde,

The last of the 2006 models were actually built during May 2005. My wife's 2006 Victory Edition ragtop is one of them. Jaguar essentially cleared out their parts bins and threw everything except the kitchen sink into the final production run....

Default Wheels

Thanks again for all of the feedback. The six/twelve spoke wheels, like the badge, may be aftermarket adds or something from the back of the closet in factory. Came with a fifth wheel in addition to the spare. My 2001 XKR convertible has the 18" factory wheels and there is a huge difference in ride quality between the two. Both are wicked quick, but the 2001 is smooth and silky, while the 2006 has a more boy racer ride and is very direct in response.

Cool The Wheels are pretty and shiney!

wymjym, Thanks for the "Flip"! Now I can see again.....!

JRabbit, My book of wheels for 2006 doesn't show that wheel as stock...but what the heck! It's a good looking wheel and can be made even better by replacing those old "dead" Black Growler Center Caps with some shiny new Red Growler Center Caps....Also, if you replace the old "Amber" Marker Light Lens and the "Amber" Repeater Lens with clear Lens with Chrome coated Amber Bulbs; it will really bring out the "POP" and by all means "ditch" that Badge and get a 4.2 or a 4.2S Badge as the correct replacement.
Also, the 20" Wheel is what makes the Coupe look so super good and handle superbly. I can't imagine a super coupe without 20's! A thought about the center area of the wheel where the Lug Nuts are.....Would it look better painted "Ebony"? Hummmm! Might cut-down a bit on that chrome glare....Some things to think about while you are not polishing her up!!

All good suggestions, thanks. For now, i plan to concentrate on putting some miles on it, as quickly as possible. Just back from a run up to Mt. Laguna.

I don't think I've been up Mt. Laguna, JRabbit but I hope you had a fun
run......One thing to watch on these trips is speedbumps as they will eat-up the area under your front bumper in a hurry!

A fifth alloy wheel? This raises an interesting question, makes me wonder about the widths of tyre fitted to your car, which should be 285 on the back and 255 on the front for 20" rims - in other words, have yours been fitted the same size all round, and what is the width of the spare?
