After years of loving care, this V12-powered Jaguar XJS ‘vert is going to make someone a bargain-priced cruiser.

Few cars offer more bang for the buck these days than older Jaguar machines. And the excellent XJS is one of the better bargains of the bunch. For a few grand, you can slip behind the wheel of a big, comfortable, luxurious drop top producing glorious V12 sounds. And that’s what we call unmatched value in today’s world. Despite packing all of these attributes, a rare color combo, and near perfect condition, this stunning ’92 Jaguar XJS up for grabs at Bring a Trailer is selling for pennies on the dollar.

Then again, that isn’t such a bad thing if you’re in the market for a car that can literally do it all. A stunning Flamenco Red respray looks amazing on this big cat, and the biscuit interior provides a perfect contrast. Even better, the big old 5.3-liter V12 under the hood has traveled a mere 70k miles. Power is rather disappointing for that many cylinders (263 hp, 288 lb-ft), but that really isn’t the point of the Jaguar XJS, anyway.

The point, of course, is to have a stylish ride you can comfortably cruise in fair weather. And this Jag is certainly still capable of doing just that. A good bit of service ensures that it’s good to go for a while, too. The seller has replaced the front brakes, tire rod ends, wheel bearings, and even rebuilt the hydraulic top mechanics as well. The car needs new tires, power locks, and one wheel center cap, but that’s about it.

Simple stuff for a car that otherwise presents as mostly immaculate. The interior, in particular, looks to be in glorious shape for the car’s age. You won’t find any cracks or dried-up leather here.

A couple of simple repairs and this stunning Jaguar XJS looks ready to cruise for years to come. And if we had the space in our garage, we’d happily be the ones to do just that!
