Jaguar F-PACE Given World Car of the Year Award

Award-winning Jaguar SUV draws praise from auto journalists.

World Car of the Year UK Jurors visited the home of the reigning World Car of the Year and World Design Car of the Year, the Jaguar F-PACE, on July 7. Six of the 75 international jurors for the World Car Awards attended the F-PACE’s factory in Solihull to see the production and congratulate the Jaguar Land Rover workforce.

In April, Jaguar’s F-PACE took home the two prestigious trophies from the New York International Auto Show. The F-PACE beat out two competing luxury SUV finalists for the overall World Car of the Year from the Volkswagen Auto Group: the Audi Q5 and Volkswagen Tiguan. It marked the first win for Jaguar Land Rover since the World Car Awards began in 2005.

Additionally, the F-PACE took home the World Design Car of the Year from New York. The Jaguar took the prize from the Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet and Toyota C-HR. That gives Jaguar Land Rover three Design awards in the 11 years that they’ve been held. The previous wins came back to back in 2012 and 2013 with the Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar F-Type, respectively.

“The design of the F‐PACE is both sensuous and expressive. It maintains the visual link with recent models of the brand, whose expressive pitch has leant towards low road hugging proportion,” said the official jurors in their judgment. “It is a stand alone attraction when parked on the curb side next to any of its contemporaries.”

The World Car Awards comprises 75 automotive journalists from 23 countries. They gather to test the cars in the various categories and to vote on the results. The other four annual award-winners are listed below:
