restore wood trim
Hi all!
I have a 2001 Jaguar XJR and the wood trims are fading in many places due to the plastic covering the trims fading out with time. Did someone try those lens or plastic renovators to restore the faded wood trims? Results?
Thank you!

Hey there JK....sorry I can't help, but hopefully someone else will jump in here.
Failing that, have you tried asking the question in the XJ section? You may find better responses there. Just a thought......
All the best
Try using 3M Scratch Remover. I had a scratch on the ash tray wood and it took it out nicely. I noticed then that it does a good job polishing the overall plastic too. Finally I used Meguiar's Swirl Remover for good measure and the piece looked like glass when I was done. About $25 bucks for the polishes.
If that does not work, my dealer had to send out a cracked piece to have it recoated. I could get the name of the place that did it (in CA I think).

roth, california is correct, all dealers are sending wood to be refinished out there somewhere. The name has been tossed out there a time or two over the last couple years, I remember contributing to the thread myself. However, the actual post eludes me. Perhaps a search will turn up the name. They do outstanding work, but it does take a few weeks to return.
Gonna take a stab at this, though not sure my number is correct. My little window switch from the door had to be sent off, and I 'think' it was around $75. You do the math vs square inches of wood to be repaired.

Give these guys a look. They will deal with you directly and you can avoid whatever cost the dealers are adding on. I'm going to have my rear picnic trays redone. I spoke with you owner and he was very nice to work with.
