Default Blind spot warning

As I was driving along I got a warning that blind spot was not active. The little light in the mirror that stays on when stopped is on in both mirrors. Any ideas?

something went wrong with the sensors. Try cleaning your mirrors.

The sensors for BSM are in the rear bumper, so if you have mud or anything else obscuring the sensors it will generate a fault. To have the little dot on both mirror implies a fault in the system rather than the sensors. My suggestion would be to read the fault codes and determine if you have a module failure.

Where, exactly, are those sensors located? The only ones I've seen back there are the parking proximity sensors.

They are mounted in each corner of the rear bumper in a bracket that is attached to the frame of the bumper. The valeo module in the picture below:

Looks heavy. Another thing that needs to be thrown overboard.

Sounds like a module glitch. Hope it stays away :-)
