Possible F-Type purchase - 'cut' spoiler part a problem?
Hi friends! So I have a lead on a car - it's not my ideal, but there are some nice things about it. It's amazing what you miss when you're out of the country. I've had a lead on 4 perfect cars since July, including 3 S in fantastic shape and an RWD R. I've also found a red R with carbon roof, but the owner isn't responding. I guess that's life.
Anyway, this one that I'm currently looking at, the owner had installed an aftermarket wing, for which he had to disable to spoiler from coming up at speed. When I asked if he knew how much of a pain it would be to reactivate it, he said "For the wing to be activated again you would probably have to order the certain part that I cut to disable it because it was the only way to actually make that happen."
Would anyone have some idea of what part he's talking about, and if so, roughly what kind of cost/work it would take to repair? I'm assuming I'd also need to get a new spoiler panel itself since he has likely drilled holes in the existing one to mount this wing. On the other hand, could this be something that screams 'walk away!' the rest of the car (at least from a distance) seems in great shape, and he's fine w/ me taking it for a PPI.
Thanks!

Reason: Added context.
The part the owner is talking about that he cut is the panel that has the motor attached to it (underneath the spoiler itself). He cut the rod from the motor. You would need to buy that panel with motor and rod. When I installed my fixed wing, I bought a second one of those so I could always revert back to stock.
Not sure where you are located but my 2015R is for sale as well (Atlanta, GA).
Something to keep in mind is that if this wing is actually producing significant downforce it MAY make the car more prone to understeering at speed unless you add front downforce. I think this depends on whether the wing's downforce is greater than the OEM spoiler's reduction of lift since both make the rear "heavier" at speed. Any aero experts out there who want to address this?
Fun Fact: When you put the SVR into VMAX mode for top spped runs, it disables engaging the spoiler (which normally comes up at 62 mph on my convertible), trading downforce for less drag.

Aha, I was looking at some of these panels on ebay when I was costing out a fix. With and without the underneath mechanism.
I saw your car - it's gorgeous!! If the exchange rate were better, I'd jump on it for sure. But exchange plus import duty, travel cost, etc put it firmly out of my price range right now.

That wing is not staying on... one of the things I love about the F-Type is all the little transformery bits - like the spoiler. I'm an 8 year old boy sometimes, what can I say.
