I have to be careful when using Doug's description and yours together in the same sentence - "Certifiable lunacy".

On my "77 XJ12L with the BBC, I use the line loc to warm the tires. If you don't set it hard enough and apply the power gradually, the rear lights up, and pushes the car left and sideways down the road. So this is risky at the track, because you can push yourself into a "red light".
So to answer your question, yes for burn outs, or to warm the tires prior to launch at the drags. Since both are mostly street cars or a to be a street car., I use the line loc to fill the neighborhood with tire smoke. Kids (young folks) across the street drive "coffee grinders" (four cylinders) with fart can mufflers. So the '77 burnouts help them understand the meaning of "Wow, I could have had a V8!"

you have to careful with the "sliding door controlled by a stepper motor" over engineered idea. Primaz will try to incorporate it before I or you get the chance.

 

Have to say that would be pretty cool on the street, the neighbors must love you !! Hilarious.

First - Doug - thanks for the tip on the line straightener!
Slow and methodical was the procedure, right and tight was the by word. It was sit and stare, asking myself "where does this line belong, is it interfering with anything, is it away from heat, etc.
A youtube video lead me to use the braided stainless at the master and the line lock.
Front to rear had to be three piece. Line on the floor and bench is RF. If you want it back out in one piece - pull the engine and tranny.

No V8. Just tried used XJ12L leather on my creeper seat, too slippery.
Moving along - front suspension & steering in. Column overhauled with both felt (cut to size) and the rubber bushings. Graphite moly grease on the felt and dielectric grease on the rubber.
Minor screw up on the lower rear shock mounts - Mis-read & over torqued. New bolts on Monday. Tank in for line line installation boot to engine compartment.

 

Pictures did no go with last, let's try again.

 

 

Thanks chuck. A couple of trips will get in the way shortly. Then it will fuel routing, then the biggie - WIRING. Then on the ground for engine, trans, drive shaft (needs measures & ordered). Radiator install and all the engine plumbing and wiring.

Rear coil overs in, and rear suspension torqued to spec.

 

Additional info: petrol tank is 22 US gallons. No golf clubs, or roll out printer, fax, copier, and portable bar.

Fuel lines are in from the pressure regulator in the firewall to the tank in the boot/trunk.
100 micron pre filter, 440 gallon per hour pump, 10 micron post pump filter. -10 AN Out of the tank, -8 AN out of the pump to the regulator, and -6 AN return.

 

Onward. Electrical next. Filled the table with some of what's next.
