Default Need 1 Mk2 parking brake pad

I just determined that the reason my handbrake is wimpy is one of the brake pads is missing. It looks like the friction material detached from the backing plate.

The brakes were completely rebuilt a few thousand miles ago, so the other 3 pads and all of the hardware bits are in essentially unused condition.

Does anyone happen to have a newish spare pad for a self adjusting parking brake? If it makes any difference, it's the outer right side pad.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I went ahead and purchased a full set. The other three on my car are nearly new, so now I have three extra sitting on the shelf for when someone else needs just one.

Hi Guys,I had a very similar experience on me old V8/250? Two of the linings came off-clean as a whistle after I dropped the pads on the ground,I got a set off EBay and instead of being handed 2&2 I got3 of one side and 1 of the other-Great! So I'd grab at the opertunity to buy one correct pad used or new but I'm in the UK do you think the purchase&P/P from the USA would end-up costing me more than buying a set over here? Regards Paul.

Default Handbrake pad x1

Hi Tilleyjon, thats very good of you-im at work at the moment, tonight il have the wheel off and confirm for you-id hate to end up with 4 of one type and 1 of the other!,if i remember rightly i fitted one of the incorrect ones so i atleast had a handbrake but your only using part of the ligning as the slope on the top of the pad is going the wrong way so looks wrong to,anyway il get back to you- All the best Paul. Just to add-im pretty sure it was the inboard pad on the offside wheel but i better check-it was a year or two ago when i fitted them?

Hi Tilleyjon, yes the problem pad as I thought is inboard on the offside wheel,if you have anything even a worn one would be better than the wrong handed pad-it works ok and would probably get away with it for the MOT as it shouldn't go on the rolling road to check its performance,I think they should find a slope somewhere and check it holds the weight of the car ok,but when you take the wheel off and look from above it leaps out at you, anyway il leave it with you and greatfull for you taking time to have a look-all the best, Paul.
