does anyone make SOFT quality door rubbers mk2

 

Classic Motor Cars in the UK sells a door and boot kit using modern hollow style seals. I recently ordered but haven't yet received. Hopefully someone out there has some experience with it.

 

sound good could you let me know they work out im over hard rubbers that make it hard to close the doors

 

I have bought Mk 2 door rubbers from C O H Baines www.coh-baines.co.uk/

The rubbers are nicely made and fit well and my doors close properly.

I have fitted CMC rubber seals to my doors. Easy to do, the shut effort is less, but the seal is not the same. Adjustments to the locks may be needed.

 

What is your opinion of the CMC rubber fit? Do you get any noise, does it seal the doors good?

 

This just arrived. CMC calls it a Mark 2 Door and Boot Seal Upgrade Kit - I call it 65 feet of extruded rubber. The picture on CMC's website shows a nice welded corner, which suggested to me the seals are fabricated to fit. The rubber profile that arrived isn't even the same as that pictured. I think I paid as much or more for shipping to the U.S., otherwise I'd return the "kit." I'll be sending CMC a note telling them what I think of their advertising.

Hopefully the stuff works, though from one of the comments above I'm not too hopeful. The orange strip is a peel and stick adhesive that I can't imagine holding, but I'll let you know.

I ordered and received the same seal "kit." What a disappointment. CMC usually has first rate stuff, but I am not enthusiastic about my future install.

Do not be negative! The seals do work. They are very easy to fit - unlike the original seals. The adhesive sticks well, but be certain that the mounting faces are clean. It is true that there are no moulded preformed corners just a simple circular section with a "foot" with the adhesive. You can very easily mitre the corners to make the right angle joints. I have found that at speed, the drivers door tends to suck out from the body at rhea upper window frame area. This needs to be compensated for by moving the door striker inboard a touch. Again easy to do.

 

I'll be interested to hear how this works out as I am also in the market for new seals.

I have just installed on the driver door the CMC and it works much better than the stock rubbers in my opinion. I will work on installing it on all the other doors later this week.


I want everyone to know the terrible experience I have had when I purchased the stock rubbers from XK's Unlimited. They sold me a set that did not have the correct sizes and lengths. My car is a daily driver so I could not take the rubbers out without any to install in place yet they did not give a crap and accused me of not installing them correctly, yet I had a professional body/interior shop do the work. It was clearly the wrong parts. They refused to send me the right ones nor would refund the order after over a dozen e-mails showing proof the ones they send were not right. They provided the worst customer service I have ever encountered and will NEVER purchase anything from them again.


FYI in my opinion the stock rubbers that at least XK's Unlimited sells are too stiff which causes door issues. I think the CMC ones are much better.
