Hey everyone I purchased a 2001 XJ8 for my wife yesterday (she has always wanted an XJ), it has 140k miles on it and it's very clean. I have already corrected a coolant leak, ordered a new water pump, t-stat housing, ball joints, and I'm pulling the cam covers this weekend to inspect and probably swap out the tensioners...unless they are the 3rd gen which I doubt. Transmission has been replaced but I am gonna do a service on it anyway. I got the car for a mere $2700. I have alerady learned a crapload from the forums as I have been steady reading for the past 5 days. Thanks for sharing all the knowledge, there is an amazing amount on here and frankly, I would not have purchased this car without reading through these forums and learning how to do all the preventive maintainence myself and knowing what to look for when purchasing an XJ. Thanks again.
