Hi all, new Aussie member saying G'day
Gday everyone,
I'm the proud owner of a querky and imperfect 1986 XJ6 Series 3 Soveriegn and I'm keen to share some of my experiences and gather some sage advice from the experts in the know. I'm currently in country Victoria in southern Australia and my girl, aptly nicknamed 'Lady Penelope', has some of your basic issues such as RH fuel tank not sending any info at all to the guage on tank volume, a spongey handbrake which I'm sure could be a result of neglect, and the usual embedded rust in the front and rear windshield surrounds. She has a whiney left rear hub between 30-50kph for which I'm looking to examine option of installing all new wheel bearings and seals on both sides. She needs a whole new coat of paint but it's mechanically near perfect (previous owner spent a small fortune of around AU$8K on engine, trans and suspension rebuild) so I'm very lucky there give or take a couple of one cent sized oil drips after a standing rest. Interior is about what you'd expect: excellent condition leather has a split stitch on p/side front bucket and there's a spot of delamination of the walnut veneer fascia on the dash. The hoodlining is sagging in the rear corners so I'll be replacing that.
I hope to share some pictures as the project progresses and I'm looking forward to learning from the group.
I've restored a few cars but I'm completely smitten with this one and Lady Penelope will see me out I think.
Thanks for having me.
Rob.

Welcome to the Forums.
Go to the XJS section, there is a "stickie" at the top by Greg in France about rebuilding the rear hubs. Well worth the read and printing of it, in MY opinion.
OH, fill the beer fridge, ya going to need it.
Good luck.

Thanks for the hot tip, Grant. I'm kicking myself for leaving Adelaide because I had the perfect shed for 2K painting in Northgate. Now I need to clear space (including the two other cars and three motorcycles) out of the garage to make spraying manageable.

Hello, Rob,
I see nothing in your list that's unusual for a 38 year old Jaguar to present with, it's just that all at once these can be a bit intimidating.
You've already heard from one of our Gurus, Grant, and we have others eager to help Lady Penelope get back in fine condition.
