I have bought a few of the XJ6 Speedos and Tachs to use in other cars and trucks.

I am trying to hook a Electric XJ6 speedo into a 93 Chevy Van.

Welcome to the forum racprops,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar Forums.

I see you've already been asking about this in General Tech Forum. If you add which model these 'XJ6' speedometers and tachometers have been taken from, I can move your thread from there to the correct model tech forum.

You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link Southwest US - AZ TX NM OK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Thanks.

I don't know which model of Jag they came from other than all the tachs were for 6 cylinders.

Some of my buys were for the models using drive cables and then I got a few with the electric speedos.

I liked that these have larger faces, and trip odometers and indercator lights for things like turn signals etc. And as I am running non hot rodded motors which will never see 6000 RPMs that these tachs read 5.5 grand and not the silly 7 to 9 grand found in the after market Tachs.

Unlike after market speedos and tachs..

For the other gauges I like the older Steward Warner Stage Three gauges OR VDO models.

Rich,

If you post photos, the guys will be able to identify which model they came from.

This should help in getting more accurate information for you.

Well the electric looks like this:

Jaguar XJ6 Used Speedometer | eBay

Just love the Gauges...-speedo-1.jpg

And I have the matching Tachs.

Plus I have a couple of these:

Just love the Gauges...-speedo-2.jpg

Jaguar XJ6 XJ12 Smiths Speedometer 140 MPH 1975 1979 1977 1978 1980 1985 1987 | eBay

And its matching tach.

Rich,

The top (electric) is XJ6 Series III and the mechanical is likely to be Series II.

I've moved your thread from General Tech help to XJ6 Series I, II & III forum and added the photos to it.

Here's the direct link to the new location:

Good luck.

Yes, that cable drive one has a Ser II look about it and the electric one is definitely Ser III.

The early Ser IIIs also had cable drive speedometers. The electric type (as well as a change from Smiths to Veglia instruments) was phased-in circa 1983.

Cheers

Thanks, I don't have any Jags, and have never own one, wish I could have, back in the 60s I remember dreaming on owning a XKE and when Ford did the Jag looking dash in the 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 I had to have one, so that is as close to owning a Jag I ever came.

Now I am working on doing a custom dash in my 1993 Chevy Van.

I have gone into more details here:
