My first British car
After years of American, German, Italian and even a French car I finally bought a good British Car, a 2012 Jaguar XKR. Black convertible with 22k miles and I love it. This will be my road trip ride. My city car is a Ford Focus ST.
Welcome to the forums.
For a road trip car, I would advice sticking a new water pump in the trunk and maybe a couple coolant lines. You may need it about 10,000 to 20,000 miles down the road. Average lifespan for the original waterpump seems to be about 36,000. After you get that out of the way you should be good to go for the most part. Just never turn your back on it and be observant, they're wonderful cars but they are built on the bleeding edge of technology for the day.
Search the forums for the waterpump issue, you'll find several threads on it..

Hello, Gene,
Yeah, I can see how your city car would be a Focus. Not at all rare, doesn't stand out in the crowd, and if it gets bashed, Millions of spare parts.
Congratulations on your First Jaguar however, the car that Does stand out from Any crowd!.
