Default My jaguar will not turn off

Help, I am at Wal Mart in Camden TN. I can't get my jaguar to turn off. I was having the man at oriliys checking my cars battery and he said for me to go ahead and turn her off, so I turned it off and took the key out and went to the back of car and he said he could still feel it running and I showed him the keys. I put them back in and that time it turned off . We both shook our heads, and from there I made a couple more stops, but now I can't get my jaguar to turn off. What do I do? It says fail safe mode

Welcome to the forums. I had to look it up but you have a 2002 S-type? I'm not familiar with it but does it use a key or a remote with a start button?
If a key, I would suspect a bad ignition switch, if it uses a remote like the newer ones I would suspect a bad battery in the remote. The owner's manual says to place the remote against the dash under the steering wheel closer to the receiver. My remote uses a CR2032 battery.

If it's a regular key, try pushing the end of the key up or down as you turn it off. You may need a new lock barrel in the steering column. You can try posting in the S-type forum for better answers than mine. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ . As a last resort disconnect the car battery, maybe in the trunk on yours?

On an older car it's easier to stop one, these new computer controlled ones are different..

Welcome to the forum Vickey,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Cause and effect? I wonder exactly what he did.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome.

Sounds like the electrical section of teh Ignition Switch needs cleaning.

I have done both ours, but not from your issue, just that the switch felt "iffy" when operating. Now all good.

Good luck.
