NEECAPR Newcomer from SE Massachusetts
Hello members. I'm just getting used to workings of the forum. I erroneously posted info about a fuel pump replacement yesterday before reading the directions of the forum. So, now I'm back at the intro where I belong! (Don't you just hate reading the directions first!) Lots of good info here and especially courteous, considerate friendship. I'm sorry I'd never seen the Forum site before--surely my loss! But, so far I've been far more fortunate than most--realized when I see some of your questions.
I bought a 2001 Vanden Plas in 2011. I've always liked the XJ8, but, 'liked and wanted' instantly changed to 'need' when I finally saw that Metallic Red was one of the factory colors. This VDP---54k miles---has been a dream to drive with little functional trouble. So far: 1) a rear brake lining (worn out) fell out of place in the driveway, not in downtown traffic, and 2) the fuel pump failed while in our garage. A.beast to change, but, the location was a gift, I guess.
The car leads a charmed life with most highway driving--about 2k mi per year--and stays in our one car garage all year. Therein lays a domestic problem. But, it's our only car that's free of dog hair!!
At present two codes showing--instruments on order!!
