Currently driving a slightly dingy, used '98 XJ8L with around 180,000 miles. She's my first car ever. Paint's mostly gone in many parts, the headliner is saggy, and a bunch of bits are missing from the interior, but I like her and she's been my daily driver since August 2017 when I bought her off a friend for $1300. The name passed down by the previous owners is Sugar: "her name is Sugar but she ain't so sweet".
Here for maintenance advice. I have no automotive mechanical experience but I'd like to keep Sugar running soundly at least until I can get a newer vehicle, which won't be for some time.
With good care your Jaguar should last for a lot longer.
Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can get help and advice keeping Sugar running, and perhaps even sweeten her up.

Thanks for the welcome. Is there a collection of posts and/or guides I could use to provide regular maintenance to my car as needed without taking her to a shop, or will I just have to search around on the forum?
NOTE - servicing is on a mileage or time elapsed basis. Every 10k Miles OR 12 Months, whichever comes sooner.
With a used Jaguar (and perhaps uncertain maintenance history), many members carry out fluid changes to give a baseline for future servicing. An important item that is missing from the Jaguar schedule is a transmission fluid and filter change. The transmission is supposedly "sealed for life" but changes at 70k mile intervals have been proven to greatly extend this life!
You will find useful guidance in the "stickies" at the top of the X308 forum threads. Anything you don't find or need further advice - post a question there.
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.
