Hey everyone! I am the proud new owner of a 1997 Jaguar Vanden Plas, woohoo! I've always had an eye for Jaguar styling, ever since I was young. I'm a fan of anything that stands out in a crowd, and the Jag certainly does that. I got my new car from a family member who upgraded, and while he didn't need it any more, I needed something to replace my truck for everyday driving. I've been eyeing that car for a long time, and now I can finally drive it!

It's not in the best shape, but it's got "good bones" as they say. He took it in to his dealership, who cleared it mechanically and safety wise. So most of the problems with it should be cosmetic or just kindof annoying, and I can take my time getting those restored. It needs new paint, although there isn't any rust, its just scratched up. The speakers need to be replaced. Cup holder broken, cd track switch sticks, upholstery problems, etc etc. It just needs some TLC and a good cleaning. 157k miles on it. I'm going to take it to my garage here and get another look over it mechanically shortly.

I'm not the most handy with cars, and never have been, but I'm getting there and eager to learn more. So I'll probably be bugging yall for your expertise pretty frequently, or at least as often as I have money to work on it. Hopefully you can help me decide what repairs are in my league, and what I should get done by a pro. For now it just has to get me A to B reliably.

I'm LOVING this new to me car, even with all its quirks and issues. It's a complete blast to drive, and I feel like a million bucks (even if I might not look the part up close) driving a car I've always dreamed of owning. Thanks for having me on the forum, and I look forward to learning from you along the way!

Tony

You're absolutely right, Tony! When people see a Jaguar of this vintage they know Instantly it's not a Toyota or Honda. They know Instinctively, That's a Jaguar!

I had the same reason buying my "Roger"- a friend had one and I drooled uncontrollably over it. Then this one turned up. Enjoy doing the little cosmetic fixes, and it will be that much more yours. Happy driving and welcome.
