Hello all,
I've had several cars (foreign and domestic) but nothing quite like a E Type. Man! What a cool design and car!

I and a LOT of help from Auto Europe helped brought this classic back to life. It sat in a garage we believe in Southern California for about 20 plus years, so no rust, just a lot of dry rot. It has only 26K on the clock.

Now..... I know that the series 2 2+2 is not the most desirable of the E's, but it is still a BLAST to drive such a classic!

My question is, because it's a less desirable car (it's also a automatic) would it effect the collectibility of the car if I had it turn into a manual drive?
Thank you

Welcome to the forum omava,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The most sought after cars are the combination of ['matching numbers' + original + full history + low miles + one owner]. Variations from this ideal will affect collectibility and therefore value. If you decide to go ahead and swap from automatic to manual transmission, then keep the auto box so the car could be returned to original if a prospective buyer so desired.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/e-type-xk-e-59/ to the E-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome.

An E Type is an E Type, is an E Type.

What someone thinks is an undesirable is not so for someone else.

The change to manual, if done right, and why would it not be, would probably have very little variation in the value. OK, the pursits will yell and scream, but at the end of the day it is your car.

The E is rare in any conversation, so if and when you want to move it on, the price will be what it is.
