Default X Type Jag 2006 phone pairing issues

I'm new to this forum and this is my first Jag. MY2005 XType with Bluetooth but does not have a touch screen.
I know the Bluetooth works because it was working fine BUT I paired my iPhone with my wife's car and then the Jag won't Bluetooth any more.
Disconnected the battery, unpaired everything, read the book and searched the forums but no good.
When I push the phone button all I get is HANDSET on the screen not SIG?
I live in remote Western Australia so the nearest service centre is 1700klm away. HELP

Welcome to the forum Remote x type,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The message 'Handset' is usually displayed because the already paired phone isn't in range. Did you enter the 'Discover Me' mode code sequence ##3#*# to initiate the pairing process?

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Jaguar and Bluetooth often have a difficult relationship!

However, as pairing has worked previously for you, the BT installation in your X-Type is clearly functioning. The problem seems to have occurred ONLY after a subsequent paring of the same phone with another vehicle?

The model of phone and the type of other vehicle are both impacting on this issue. I suggest you take this to X-Type forum with full details.

Thanks GGG
My phone is a iPhone 6. I paired to a Nissan Dualis.
It was still working on my X type jag until on day when I was in the Nissan and I took a call using that cars Bluetooth.
After that call in the Nissan the iPhone would not work in the Jag anymore. So I deleted the Jag from the IPhone and deleted the iPhone from the Nissan (trying to reset the whole system) I also shut down the iPhone to restart the whole thing from scratch
It did not work and the iPhone will not work in the jag.
The Jag still says HANDSET and won't show SIG so I can't enter ##3#*#
Please help if you know how to fix this or hard reset the phone system in the JAG
Thanks

I'm surprised you succeeded in pairing an iPhone6 as several members have reported their early BT Jaguars would not recognise the phone. The Jaguar Connectivity Centre only shows compatability up to iPhone4 although some phones later than this era have been reported as allowing partial BT funtionality:

Vehicles - Jaguar

Jaguar BT stores a paired phone in memory and does a clean boot every time the ignition is switched on. The only way I know to clear a pairing if this can't be done from the phone is to disconnect the vehicle battery for sufficient time to discharge all the capacitors or do a 'hard reset'.

Thanks again. I'll try the battery disconnection again this weekend, over night.
How do I do a hard reset on the jag phone set up (if i need to)?
Regards

A 'hard reset' returns ALL learned settings to factory default. This can sometimes be a problem for European spec vehicle owners because it loses the four digit radio security code. It is done by removing the negative battery lead and touching it to the positive lead for a few seconds to discharge the capacitors. Same effect as disconnecting the battery overnight but faster.

Hi Graham
Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately the overnight battery disconnection did not work and the HANDSET is still displaying on the screen.
Think I have tested your patience enough on this issue so I'll sign out here.
Thanks again
