Yes. Get the shop manual and install it on your computer.

It's called the JTIS and is free on this forum. Has everything you need now and you will need it again in the future.

Details on Win7 64 bit new install method & new JTIS21 S-Type archive

I looked into it, it's pretty intense, also, when in the JTIS, there are sub procedures to remove the steering wheel/column and air bag...

Are you talking the console between the front seats? If so, this should help:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...install-93398/

About the only thing I'd add concerns the shift knob. Can't remember if it has to be removed or if you can work around it.

If it is to be removed, the wrench flats at the knob base are actually on a separate lock nut. You have to turn the lock nut down, away from the knob. Then the knob will unthread by hand. If you turn the wrench flats the wrong way, thinking it's all part of the knob, the lock nut just gets tighter and the knob doesn't budge. I do not care to discuss how I know this...

Pull the handbrake up AS HARD AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unsnap the handle gaiter.
Move the gear selector lever to Neutral.
I don't remember if there are any screw fasteners in the console cubby bottom????

Open the console lid and grasp the side sections with both hands and JERK the console top section plastic assy STRAIGHT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unplug the cigar lighter, Sport and Traction switches.

Maneuver the console top around the handbrake and selector lever.

Collect the little metal retaining clips from where they fell inside the console tunnel area.

DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. Do you happen to remember where the screws were located? I am looking at it and not seeing any screws.

Hi, its been awhile but I remember after unscrewing the shifter knob I took off the arm rest and plate and I think a screw under that and under the pad inside the bottom of the arm rest compartment. A lot of it just snaps together. Look at the bottom front I think a screw there. Was my first time and mainly just pulled and looked to see what holds it on.

Thanks for your quick reply. I did as you suggested, and was able to lift the console high enough to replace the cigar lighter housing, which had broken. I was surprised at how easily the entire console came up and out. Thanks again for your help. It was invaluable

Default Entire Center Console Replacement

I know this is an older thread, but maybe someone still has this information. I'm considering replacing my entire cracked/broken center console - not just the top half. It appears that the top half isn't too difficult to remove, but is the bottom part pretty much a real pain?
