2003 STR Thoughts....
All...I know there are a coupe posts about buying a STR, but I didn't want to hijack anyone's threads.
I currently own a 2004 X-Type, but am looking at a 2003 STR. It's a beauty, but I'm concerned with everything that's been posted here. I'm not afraid of fixing things (being a X-Type owner should prove that), but I don't want to run into major issues right off the bat.
I'm hesitant to post a link to it out of fear of someone snagging it from me, but your thoughts would be appreciated.

There it is...hopefully, no one will steal it out from under me...lol.
Let me know what you all think.

I see two things wrong with the car already, (1) Blank Navigation Screen (2) Both Front Wheels Seem To Be Missing A Wheel Stud. Makes me wonder what else has been neglected. Not trying to be a dream killer.. I just wanted to point out what I found wrong to save you a headache down the road.
+1
it's also overpriced
These cars do sometimes have problems - what doesn't? - but as with other cars the one you buy may or may not have any or all of them. The only one that really worries me is the hose under the supercharger. Most everything else is fairly cheap and often DIY to fix.

Those are very low miles though. Before you buy, get the suspension thoroughly checked. Boots, bushings, struts...lots of bargaining power there because those parts are expensive and this is the age when they go out.
If everything is almost perfect, then I think $13k would be a good deal for that year/condition and the low miles. The $9k STR's with 100 k miles that are in "perfect condition" scare me, with the obvious exceptions being the foum members from here who love and obsess

I've looked around a bit on ebay, autotrader, cars.com and the like, and the price really isn't too far out of line. I think there are better STRs out there at that price, but the pricing point for clean, low mileage examples seems to have leveled off over the last couple years for the most part. $12-15k seems to be the going rate for a clean, low mileage (under 60k miles) 2003-2004 STR with a clear title. For that particular one, I would think $13k max, but you must see it in person to check for paint and body work and the like.

All great suggestions and advice. I'm hoping to go see it in person this weekend. If I make it, I'll try to look at as much as I can and report back what I found.
I think the biggest obstacle for me is sitting on the sofa next to me giving me "the look"!!

Cheifs, I see we are relatively close to each other, I am down your way a lot. I dont know any of the people at Spanos personally but they run a lot of cars at the auction. For the most part they are pretty clean so I would give them a shot. From what I have heard much they (like me) dont move much on the price.
Most of the few R's ive seen lately that I would consider exceptionally clean cars like us forum members would have were all in this price range. Some of them with much higher mileage but in tip top shape.
