Default advice needed for new jag owner

Hi Guys,
So i decided i would buy a s type sport. I was so happy with my purchase i figured how best to improve what i had. So the retrofit it was!!! After collecting all of the required parts i went ahead and built my loom (with all the help on this site i found it easy, cheers guys). After the install everything worked except for the radio which needed the code. After getting the code i was extremely pleased as all worked first time!!!

Now comes the problem!!!

Playing with my new toy i hit the s/w update by mistake and guess what everything is dead. Blank screen, heaters on maximum and its already to hot outside!!

Ive tried to locate the s/w file that is mentioned on a number of posts but i cannot find the file. All links to this file are dead. I am desperate to get my toy back up and running. If there is anybody out there that has the file it would be massively appreciated.

I hae searched the forum for 3 days looking for a valid link but to no avail

Generally no need to use menu if you power up (to ignition II) with newer dvd already in drive - and wait 20 mins - but if that fails I guess it's time for a new nav module

Thanks Jagv8. That could be where the problem is, everything i hae read states 5-10mins. I will try for 20mins and update. I really hope it works as this retrofit has cost less than £200 and is worth the investment. Luckily as i sourced all the parts extremely cheap i dont mind getting a new dvd player but would rather not waste money if the software would work. Reading other posts their has been a varied amount of success with the software update and being a yorkshire man i will try everything before spending my hard earned money!!!

30 mins and still no success. i find it hard to believe that my dvd player would be shot as it was working prior to pressing s/w button. I only have one disk and yetwhen i search on ebay etc.. to buy another there are 3 disks. could it be that oneof the disks is the software disk?

It's the nav module whose firmware you've blown away. The player is likely fine.

It may be that this is unrecoverable as I've never ever heard of anyone else doing it.

The nav module? Is that the headunit or the player? I don't want to sound stupid as I have done a lot of research prior to my retrofit. I have stripped the player down to check the lense and all seems ok. What I have noticed is that my disk doesn't cover UK! This means there should definitely be another disk. Could it be that the other disk has the update files and this could correct the firmware ?
Either way it looks like I have to spend some money. It's a shame because it's not the nav I wanted it for it was simply the touchscreen as it looks soooo much better
