At least any of: bad ABS sensor, bad wiring/connector, failing battery, faulty module.

accessing the OBDII with a suitable reader will alert you to the chassis (C) code(s)

Recently had the same message and the car went into limp mode - stuck in 2nd gear, crawl speed to next available parking lot.

Shut off, wait 10 minutes, barely come drive back home 5 miles.

Replaced the battery and within 2 start cycles it's back to normal. The battery lasted 13 years so I had no regret about replacing the battery.

After about a month with new battery, the error messages and limp home mode came back.

Reading through other's experience, I took the plunge and did the following:
- replaced the original spark plugs(114K miles)
- replaced intake manifold gaskets( x6 )
- cleaned up the TPS and indexing motor connectors
- cleaned the MAF sensor(was dirty)
- new air filter(1 year old)

After 100 miles no errors and the car is running well. Still have the check engine light on. Wondering if it will go away after a number of starts..,

3 warm ups else there's a fault but far better to just get a cheap OBD tool and read / clear codes.

Update: After 5 starts the check engine light went away. The car is running better than ever.

Now I know what to do(or at least attempt) the next time the car goes into limp home mode. Glad I took the plunge to change out the plugs. The ones that came out had 0.067 gap. I believe the spec is 0.051 - 0.057.

I have been going through the same thing with my 2002 s-type.I changed the the battery, checked the fuses and the wheel sensors. I then found a mechanic with a scanner he said would pull the codes. It pulled 17 B 1342 and 15 B 2477 codes. I would take it to a Jaguar dealer. It will cost less than a new battery.
