Default How do I tell which S Type model I own?

Dear Guys
This may seem a dumb question but can anyone tell me how I find out what model my 2002 S Type is as it appears to have no obvious badging indicating this?

either going to be a 3.0 or 4.0 open the hood and see if you have a big black cover over the engine, that indicates that its a 4.0, if its silver with no cover then that indicates its a 3.0, if its a sport, your grill and your side bumper parts would be painted the same color as your car along with the trunk part that says "JAGUAR" across it. Other wise your car is a basic.

Well you have the EPB so it must be the 2002.5 facelift with the six speed transmission.

Does it have chrome or body colour corner trim and grille?

Can you measure the diameter of the front brake discs 300mm or 320mm, you may be able to check this near enough with the wheels on.

You can get very detailed info from any jag franchise (ask nicely, mine was free) or by emailing jag from their web site. Well worth having, gives even trim colours and more.

I emailed jag direct and got a very detailed list of what was standard and what was fitted as extras and as jag v8 says the trim colour and paint colour etc.... as an example i found out the wood in my car was birds eye maple.

Yes, what the folks said about asking a dealer and/or Jaguar direct for a detailed build sheet for your car.

For my fellow Americans, there were quite a few more trim levels in other markets. The "base" S Type even had cloth seats...

I am not familiar with what was available in Australia.

Here is a picture of a cloth seat S type from Auto Trader UK.

So, it would be interesting to see what you really have...

Dear JagV8
What exactly do I have to ask for?

Ask for its detailed spec / build details.
Someone on the UK forum just posted a summary of what they got.

It sounds like the base 3.0 model then, does it have the coveted velour?

Follow JagV8's advice for all the info.

Dear Norri
Alas, no velour. I believe it is champagne leather.
