A little help please. Sealing plugs from water
Ok all in a previous thread about the fault codes I was having cylinder 8 misfire and catalyst bank 1 below effiency. I took the jag to a specialist who opened her up to find 1. The plugs needed changing (96000 miles)
And 2. Water in two plug wells. He reccomended I deal the water out with Vaseline or something similar.
Just would like a little help understanding how to a actually do this job and if other members have had this water into the wells and how to prevent it. I remember reading a common problem is the water leaking in Down windshield?

It's best to find where the water is entering the engine bay. A known problem is the seal at the bottom of the windscreen, allowing water to enter the engine bay and land directly on the back of the plug covers
Well the best way is to test your car.
Run water down the windshield with the hood closed. Flood everything pretty good. Now let it drain a bit before opening the hood. Then look very carefully under the hood for any traces of water getting to the engine. Especially look at the TPS/Throttle body which is at the back of the motor in the center. Also check the cam covers.
The water usually gets thru where the wiper post come up thru the cowl. It’s dead center over the back center of the engine. Jaguar installs a round plastic shield under the post but sometimes it's not enough. This area needs to be sealed up with added silicone. Remove the plastic cowl cover before doing the repair.
I would retest after the repair to make sure.

i have 5 0r 6 fixings missing from the scuttle panel below the windscreen im thinking water is leaking in here?

Ok so thanks to joycejag for showing me that thread. I will at some point get round to doing this. But for the mean time I
1. Smeared a very generous amount of Vaseline to the rubber seal under the bonnet which sit on the windscreen scuttle panel.
2. Sprayed sg85 into the electrical plugs on the coil packs
3. Re connected the coil plugs and smeared Vaseline over them.
Hopefully the rain should not affect these coils or plugs again.

i also used epoxy resin to seal the bottom of my windscreen, i just lifted the rubber seal a little bit at a time, applied the resin, and put it back in place, since then not a drop has got past it.
