Post Sounds of Silence

I'm not getting any sound out of the Alpine radio in my 2003 S-type after jump starting the car even though the screen shows the station settings. I've checked the fuses and tried to reset by pressing AMEM+PTY+MODE as well as PTY+MODE+FF but I can't get it to ask me for a code.
Does anyone know how to get it to ask for the radio code?
Am I on the right track or have I overlooked something?

I know it might sound funny but have you tried turning the volume up? When I remove the battery on my car and then replace it, the radio/CD volume defaults to zero.

Additionally, again - might sound stupid - but do you have a mute button or telephone button - I have one and hit it by mistake and muted my stereo.

Just a thought...

Yes, I've tried turning up the volume and adjusting the mute but that doesn't work. I need to find someone who knows how to get it to ask for the radio code.

Normally if you disconnect the main car battery negative cable, leave for a few seconds and reconnect, the radio will ask for a code. If you don't have one, press >> +AHEM+PTY simultaneously and the radio will come on.

Go try it and see what happens.........

I'm Not So Sure This Info Is Accurate...Both My STRs Came With Radio Codes. I Just Misplaced The One I Need.

I guess yours are not set for USA. Mistake in jaguar when shipping maybe. That's IF you need those codes.

Anyway, if the OP's isn't asking for a code then it doesn't need one (or has no power).

Yes, I disconnected the negative battery cable but the radio still isn't asking me for my radio code. All I get is the station call letters and SOUNDS OF SILENCE.

Does anyone else have any other ideas on what the problem might be?

Most US cars do not need the code, even if they come with the code card. This is true of my S-type, and I have the code card also. If you have a station display you do not need a code.

Check fuse F28 in the boot fusebox, this is for the Power Amp.

Thanks. I checked Fuse 28 and it's just fine.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Is it probable that the amplifier that sits atop the CD deck is the culprit?

Default Same here???

Did you ever solve your problem? Same thing just happened to me. My cd shuttle was't working, removed so I could look at what is wrong with it and now my volume on the radio does't work anymore as well. If you have any answers please share with me.

Thanks,
Marco
